Just started this game, and it's also my first Metroid. Nobody plays this with the helmet on, right?

What?

What?

not the HUD, but the visor visibility. Where it looks like you're looking through the visor itself.
>>383460181
So the HUD?
>>383460181
I forgot you could turn it off.
>>383459765
I do. My dick is uncut.
Why would you want to turn it off?
>>383460263
No, the HUD is completely separate.

>>383460483
Any benefit to it? Maybe it feels more authentic, maybe I'm just spoiled by more modern FPS layouts, but I just see it as obstructing.

Oh hey battery bars on top, was this only in the Wii's Trilogy version?
I've done a bunch of playthroughs and always left the visor on.
Good first choice, play Super after and diverge however you want after
>>383459765
I leave it on always.
>>383460546
In the GC version too
They turn into battery lights in the trilogy version
You can turn the visor off?
People want to turn the visor off?

It adds to the experience since it's supposed to be what Samus sees inside her helmet, it even moves around and bobs with a slight lag to add to the effect
I haven't heard of anyone turning it off. It's one of the things they added to make you feel like you were in the helmet, like the raindrops, steam, static, visors, bug juice, Samus' reflection, etc. It really does add to the experience, imo.
It's up to you of course, but I would give it a couple of hours to see if you can get used to it or not.
For the best effect use a VR headset

If you're playing the Wii version flip the controls so B is to shoot and A is to jump
>>383461132
It's the gamecube version, but default B is jump and A shoots.

I don't get rid of it completely, but I do increase its transparency a bit.
Alright, I'm putting it back on and giving it a shot.
One more question, what has a higher dps- charging shots or just mashing basic shots?
>>383461295
>increase the transparency
You might as well get rid of it completely if you do that. It's there for a specific reason that has already been mentioned.
>>383461464
mashing with the power beam
>>383459765
I usually have it on since it doesn't really bother me ever and it helps add to the immersion at times.
How are you enjoying the game so far, OP? I hope you're digging it, I love this game.
>>383461464
This doesn't answer your question, but on a similar note: you can cancel the missile's cooldown by firing a quick power beam shot immediately after. IIRC using this to spam missiles is the highest DPS possible.

>You might as well get rid of it completely if you do that.
How do you figure? I still see the visor without losing those bits of visibility and having the screen feel more cramped. It's a win/win.
>>383462147
ah cool I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
>>383462114
It's pretty cool. I recognize this was made in an era when FPSes were growing, so it's using a control scheme that works differently from the norm. Honestly though I've put up with Starfox Assult's weird commando controls, so this isn't so bad.
It's always weird hopping into a beloved series in the middle with its world expanded in previous installations, but the flavortext of all the scans are really helping me immerse into it, kind of like Olimar's journals in Pikmin.
I'm not loving it per say, but I am enjoying it and would like to see how it continues to grow on me.
