Video Games don't make me happy anymore.

Anyone else experience this and or have solution?
>>
The solution is move on to more mature adult hobbies and stop wasting your life playing with children's toys
>>
>>383451569

>You bought too many games
>You have 1000 game backlog
>You literally played one game for 2 minutes and then installed another

shut up fag, go play your backlog.
>>
>>383451703
Then why the fuck are you still here?
>>
>>383451569
Play Dark Soulszszz
>>
>>383451569
Stop playing for a while. Find a new hobby then come back after a year or so. If games still suck, then you've probably outgrown the medium.
>>
>>383451798
I'm only 19, m8, I'm still young enough that playing video games still isn't that big of problem.

I'm dropping this shit for good after I graduate college.
>>
>>383451961
It's like... I go through phases. One day I'm into Halo other days I'm into Metal Gear solid... but now I'm starting to realize this pattern it's been going on for years. I have full time job to so I get out enough but still
>>
>>383451569
do something else. /a/, /tv/, /co/, whatever. too much of a good thing will tire you out in the long run. you could be a bacon lover having bacon every day for every meal, but shit's gonna get real old in weeks, you'd be craving plain salad soon enough.

immerse yourself in something other then game. eventually, you'll miss it, go back & may enjoy whatever it was you missed while you were away.
>>
>>383451961
This. Once I started working full-time and played vidya for only an hour or so a week, I was able to enjoy pretty much any game I play. Whether some AAA game or an indie I really don't give a fuck anymore since I don't nitpick little shit like typical /v/.
>>
>>383451569
Yes. My bf makes 150k a year playing in an orchestra and is only one year older than me. I asked him to play NHL with me and he laughed because he doesn't do videogames. Makes me wonder if I would've been less of a piece of shit if I didn't waste my childhood playing videogames
>>
>>383452020
I'm 20, I'll still play vidya, & watching animu when I'm fucken 80

OP, games are just absolute shit now, these corporate suits only care about money, so they'll throw everything like Graphics, Gameplay, whatever's trending and give it to you, their problem is that half these idiots dont know how to make a good game.

Stop playing shitty games.

Here's something from experience: you're probably blocked out of feeling. Bad diet, superstitions (which take subtlety to unveil), any other kind of persistent sickness or nightmare-belief can gradually create a wall that blocks you out of feeling. This can happen over time and never be recognized.

so, wat do?

Edit your diet down to something simple, try fasting and a low/no carb intake diet. People will have different solutions to this, I had to get rid of coffee, dairy and wheat (it turned out that all three put a horrible feeling in my guts). If your diet makes you sick all of the time, that clouds the emotional space that a game (or a piece of music) is supposed to be manipulating. This was huge change #1 for me, it's like I was dead until I did this.

Stop thinking like an idiot, and learn to stop thinking for huge stretches. You perceive and act on reality through a template in your imagination. If you're familliar with that pop-psychology junk about "imagine abundance", there's truth in it as far as people are imagining meaninglessness everywhere instead. Thinking about something the "wrong" way can make it boring, you won't even have an emotional response. See the fear and superstition. Even the idea that you can "think" something is a popular superstition (all you can do is model its sensory appearances). Use thoughts to make things more mysterious, don't throw a blanket over everything with low level homogenizing ideas.

Experiment with creative visualization and how your body's feeling transforms from what you're thinking. Some people have absolutely incredible emotional depth and don't know it (because they're the most easily blocked out of feeling). Meditate (i.e. lay down and think very little) and become hypersensitive to your body, which is the one meaningful thing in your life (it's where feelings are).

Just lay off the gaming as a whole for awhile. Do some other shit that has nothing to do with your computer or your consoles and move on to things outside your apartment. Get together with some friends, party, get hammered, go to the gym, etc. Life is great outside the virtual world anon. If you still crave playing games, try something outside the genre that's putting you in a rut. Discovered Hotline Miami during steam sales and I'm definitely hooked and staying away from the steaming pile of shit that is LoL

The solution is to get a hobby that will help you feel productive/switch up your routine. Doing the same shit all day every day will get on your nerves. Take a break from playing vidya for a little bit as you find this new hobby and come back to it when you feel like you want to.

>move on to more adult hobbies

Listen here (you) salty cunt, video games have only been around in the mainstream for the past 30 years. The kids who grew up with them 30 years ago are now adults; video games are an adult hobby you fuckhead. It's like saying adults shouldn't watch movies or read books, because reading books and watching movies is what children do. It's a shit argument.

Op is likely just burnt out. It happens when you gorge on shit games like ASSFAGGOTS and AAA garbage. The remedy is simple: take a break. Wait until the release of something that you actually want to play, rather than forcing yourself to play garbage because there's nothing which interests you at the moment.
>>
>>383451569
Stop playing games with a built in cashshop.
>>
>>383451961
>finish college and get a job
>stressed and tired out, games feel like a chore to play after work.
>quit for 4 years.
>come back with a PS3 because fucking whores overseas didn't feel exciting anymore
>feel like a fresh newborn kid who just played games for the first time.

I stop every few months and move on to other stuff when i start feeling the drag. what this anon says is true.
>>
>>383451569
Have kids. Hardest difficulty curve.

Also travelling is nice, I'm talking the backpacking in third world shithole variety. Closest thing to vidya desu, you'll even get into car chases and gunfight, just like in your favorite visual recreational experiences.

Still, the entire video game industry has gone to shit. It's not so much that we've grown up, it's more like our hobby was ruined. My kids ain't old enough to play vidya yet, but my brother's are, and they certainly love to play all these obscure NES, SNES, GB and MSX2 games even though they don't understand shit because they're mostly in English and it's not their native language, than the latest CoD they used to love and play all day long, which since gathers dust along with the Xbone and PS4. Like some people still listen to classical music, or rock bands from the 70s, because it's so much better than all the garbage that plays today on the internet radio, it seems the next generation will appreciate old games just as much as we did, if given the choice.

Stockpile ROMs and make sure your kids will have quality vidya to play.
>>
>>383451569
>growing up
>adults tell me I'll grow out of video games some day. they also laugh about it.
>become incensed, swear I will NEVER grow out of video games because I don't want to give them the satisfaction of them thinking they were right

You've got to be careful when you talk to young people. If you're a cunt to them they will do stupid shit to prove you wrong. And you're a cunt if you never sit down and have an honest conversation with them about they really do need to develop adult interests.

>Video Games don't make me happy anymore.

Anon, how many years have you been playing video games? 10 years? 20 years? Longer?

There is nothing on this planet that won't become boring after you've been doing it for 20 years straight. Playing other video games won't help the matter. You're still playing video games, which is what you're actually tired of. Even though we see many differences in genres, they are all still the same basic activity: playing a video game.

It's not supposed to be your whole life.

>>
>>383451569
Books don't make /lit/ happy anymore.

Comics and cartoons don't make /co/ happy anymore.

Board games don't make /tg/ happy any more.

It's because you're 18-30 and there's always something else you should be doing, so you can never immerse yourself in something to the degree you previously could.

It's because you've cemented a sense of identity and ideas about where you are in life and where you want to go, and on some level you're thinking about those things every second of every day, so you can't just forget yourself like you're used to.

It's because you've lost the certainty of knowing what for sure what you'll be doing next year and that distracts you.

It's because the human brain isn't primed to enjoy anything if you don't socialise and exercise and regularly go outside.

It's because all these enjoyable things are essentially masturbation and you know they're not going to dig you out of the hole you've made for yourself.

Alcohol is popular entirely because stops all that. It's like you're in a dark room all the time, and alcohol tears open the curtains and it's the brightest day of the year.
>>
>>383451703
I went from enjoying games to enjoying forming communities within games. After my huge tribe betrayal in ARK I'm stuck looking for another game to form a community in.

I like communities. Still why I come here because its similar to socializing to me. Waiting for Albion or Legend of Aria for my next game.

Not the OP, but this is wrong. I tried to get interested in the outside world, exercise, whatever. It didn't work. For a while I thought "Fuck, I should do something with my life before I die," but then I realized that it would be pointless. Accomplishing shit won't stop me from dying, and I'd probably end up regretting it, because all that time I spent working could have been spent entertaining myself. I realized I'd only be trying to do shit because I felt like I was on a clock, but I'd never really care about it.

It happens with any hobby, OP. Not just video games. The main problem your having is stagnation in life. This is life's way of telling you to make something of yourself. The instinctual need for progress hasn't completely faded in humans, so unfortunately we can't just be useless slugs strapped to VR machines 24/7. Some people can, but be grateful you can't.

All of those are just as empty as video games except getting fit and making them. Making them is creating something yourself, which is inherently good, but your mind realized it was a retarded thing to create. Getting fit is good to do but won't make you happy, it should be used for health reasons and to get your mind to the right state for other pursuits.

You need your own dream or goals. If you can't get those, sorry, some people feel hollow and empty because they actually are.
