Which one should I get /v/: HTC Vive or Oculus Rift? Disregard Price, only content.
>>383443414
Neither
Vive is better than the Rift in most regards, but do your own research rather than blindly trust strangers on the internet.
>>383443882
Not a valid answer.
>>383444407
Yes it is, because you're asking about content on VR
Which doesn't exist.
The best option is to save your money.
>>383443414
PiMax 4K.
>>383443414
neither
Just get a Vive because the hardware is much better and you can play every Oculus exclusive using Revive
>>383443414
VR is a meme, but I'd rather give my money to the Chinese jew than the Facebook jew.
>>383443414
Rift's headset and controllers are better (though they are developing new similar ones for the Vive) but Vive has better and easier to setup tracking.
If you mainly want to do sit-down stuff like sims then get an Oculus, for stand-up room-scale stuff get the Vive. The Vive can also play Oculus games via ReVive so that's not an issue.
Vive
>>383443414
HTC in my experience it was easier to work with and had fewer bugs in the software
they are both the same just different hand features but trying them both out side by side, personally I liked the HTC better
>>383443414
Unless you play racing/flight sims don't bother.
>>383445509
Any shooters or multiplayer games?
>>383445627
>Any shooters or multiplayer games?
Sure, if you like them in Barf-O-Rama.
>>383443414
Vive + Deluxe Audio Strap + the knuckle controllers coming out soonish is the best, but also the most expensive option.
Whichever one can run Skyrim VR Edition better.
Vive is objectively better in every regard, but good luck finding a worthwhile game to play until valve releases their super secret supposed 3 VR games
>>383443882
fpbp
>>383445776
This.
>>383443414
It'd be good to wait a bit for a proper bundle with all the newer stuff. You'd feel dumb for buying the current model controllers while the knuckles are so close.
But absolutely Vive > Rift
>>383445902
But anon, Doom VFR and Fallout 4 VR are available for preorder RIGHT NOW.
>>383446234
You've already preordered them, right anon?
>Oculus Rift and Touch - $399 at Microsoft stores starting Monday July 10th
Anyone have thoughts about Razer's OSVR? The goal is to unify VR hardware into one API so VR software is compatible with any VR headset that meets the specs of the software. Think it'll actually catch on or is it just a meme that creates another competing standard?
>>383446383
>>383444702
>PiMax 4K
Is it really compatible with any Oculus or Vive game? I wouldn't wanna buy it not be able to play Star Trek and other shit.
>>383446383
Vive was already made by design to unify VR hardware and software so I dont see the point.
>>383446489
Yup, that was what I was referencing. Just wondering if anyone had thoughts other than meme comics to post in response.
>>383446314
yes todd I did. Also I pre-ordered some mods
>>383446593
There's no positional tracking or controllers, so it's basically one of those 2014 rift prototypes that's only good for playing HL2 in 3D.
>>383446674
One point is that the OSVR headset is less than $800
>>383446489
>>383446674
The Vive supports OSVR
>>383446674
You mean OpenVR; The Vive is an HTC product.
I have a Vive, tons of fun in Honey Select, especially using the controllers to pose characters in the studio. Being able to get up and move around makes it a little easier to do
>>383446935
I havent done Honey Select since one of the earliest demos, and I dunno if I managed to get it to work in VR.
How difficult is it to get going? A lot of installing and language patches?
>tfw really want a Vive but can't justify dumping $800 into one when CC debt is way too high
The Vive is technically superior in every way. Not even a contest.
>>383447216
The newest dlc came out like a month ago and there are pastebins spelling it all out if you google 'em. It's been out long enough that the dlc stuff is pretty much all translated.
The biggest trip-up is forgetting to mount the disc 2 iso in the same drive you mounted the disc 1 iso in order to continue the installation. My experience with installing mods has been 'download from megaupload link from hongfire, drag-and-drop'
I also uninstall and redo everything from scratch when I mess up because I'm dumb and also lazy. All in all, works great.
>>383446593
Valve did the exact opposite that Oculus did and released an SDK for their OpenVR software (which despite the name isn't actually open source) for headset developers to get their games working with Vive games.
googling "pimax openvr" should give you some idea.
>>383446686
>>383447478
Sounds a lot easier than Custom Maid 3d 2 at least
>>383446858
That just means that the Vive will natively work with games that use OSVR. It doesn't mean that OSVR headsets will work in Vive games.
>>383443414

>>383449543
Now you know which one is better right?
>>383443414
I love the 80s cyberpunk design of the HTC Vive, the Steam Knuckles are also coming and a bunch of addons like the deluxe strap. I think the Vive has room to grow. It probably is wiser to wait for the LG headset though.
>>383443414
I just got the Rift with touch. If I didn't play racing sims it would not have been worth it. Seeing as I do though, it's awesome.
>>383448835
>*requires a pc to run
Somehow implying psvr doesn't require a ps4 to run.
