XV was super disappointing for me, but some people seem to like it.

I dont know much about World Of but it looks kind of interesting even tho its not a mainline game

I like all of them. Start with either X or XII. XIV is an mmo, XV is pretty good the first time through, all of the little sidequests are awful fetch quests though and WoFF is pretty great, but it's better if you've played every other ff game to appreciate it a bit more. Plus it's a lot more childish and light hearted.

WoFF is better than XV I can tell you that.

XV's worth playing despite feeling incomplete. It dips during the later chapters but still ends well. I'd add that it's better to wait until every last bit of DLC has been released before buying it, if OP has left it this late to play it.

FFXIV is great but realize the game doesn't truly start until level 50 so there is some initial time investment required

not sure about WoFF, but there are xenogears references so that's cool

avoid XV and X-2

X has an aged combat system but if you can look past that it's a great game.

XIV is an mmo. A WoW with a Final Fantasy paint on. While i like it, i would hardly recommend it to anyone. One of the worst leveling experiences, too much grind.
If you are interested in story then ARR is boring. HW is great - the, SB is fucking garbage.
Heavensward is the only good genuie Final Fantasy since 12. But yeah, to get to the HW quests you'll need to stomach through like 200 meh quests of ARR.

i like ff15 for the combat primarily. early game is dreadfully boring with all the riding in the car shit, but the hunts and sidequests were pretty fun to grind away hours and hours. its a pretty easy platinum too if you care at all about that, and there is quite a bit of post-game stuff, even if most of it is entirely combat focused.

ff12 is my favorite but i've never played izjs so maybe i won't like it. it was also the first ff i beat.
