I watched Link to the Past and loved it. I conceded in my opening post that they still have a few golden runs a year, but back in 2011-2013, runs like that were more common. In earlier GDQ's everyone in the room knew each other and it was a lot more interactive and personal. People would be talking about the run and bantering with each other.
Now it's just a big sterile room, everything behind the couch is just for background. No noise or anything other than the runner and the 3 people miced up on the couch.
It's very boring and not at all pleasant to watch outside the few runs each year that have an inkling of normal human interaction in them. Each year it becomes more and more about the money and business aspect of it, and for someone like myself who has been involved in the speed running community for a long time, it's just depressing to watch.
