It does, but I think the "beginning" is so bad that it drags down the entire game. It takes a long time before you get all of the movement options that smooth out the game, but then you basically get them all at once. But that's like halfway into the game.

No game is allowed to actually build a tone or build it's gameplay up. I mean, how would it be meaningful at all for the player to be fast and powerful if they didn't first have to deal with being slower and weak?
