It's not that hard to make your own games these days. It's pretty easy with unity for example,you just need patience and the ability to read and absorb information.

Some of the biggest, most talked about indie games of the past decade were made with free engines. Yeah, the indie game bubble may have popped or whatever due to the amount of low effort shit on the market, but developing has never been more easy and accessible than now.

This is by itself an archaic excuse. Its like people used to say that you'd need years for this and that, like, idk, they felt empowered with this idea of knowledge in a field oR whatever. Now people make games in 48 hours, there are events about that. There are many engines, much knowledge online. Making a game was never easier.
