How do the Souls series get away with no mini map? Are the levels that intuitively designed?
More games than you think could get away without a mini-map.
Could somebody please drop me an un-upgraded Demon Scar on PS4? I would like to do a fun run but my only friend with a PS4 upgraded his.

Levels are fairly linear themselves, or at least not so sprawling, with singular objectives that you rarely need to return to, and constantly dotted with recognizable landmarks, that there isn't really anything a minimap could do in these games in the first place.

In my experience, most games can get away with no mini map.
I rarely find myself using it if it's available, I just find my way by paying attention to landmarks and the like.
Who even started this minimap shit? It's always just another way for the developer to be lazy because lol what's level design?

It makes for better exploration. The games aren't exactly massive open-worlds. They're setpiece dirven.
