I have really fond memories of this as a kid. I don't know if it's hold up well as an adult, but this was definitely one of my favorites.

Fucking Vagrant Story and FFT are two of the best games I've ever played.
FF7/8 and Chrono Cross are amazing. Spryo and Crash too. But instead you pick fucking battle pigs.
