Not him, but L4D1 has lots of minor differences which do make the game better overall. I played a lot between the two of them (hundreds of hours at least, I'm not sure how much), and 1 is definitely better. I enjyoed 2, but it's like Portal 1 vs Portal 2. 2 was just lazy.

The first game looks and feels different to the second. It's also a very different arsenal so plays differently (e.g. no melee weapons).
If I had the choice between playing all the maps in 1 or 2 I'd play it in 1.
