I normally do this now, as do a couple of my friends. Most people buy a year at a time (just subscribe through the actual console) but we just buy one month when people decide they're going to have a few multiplayer sessions.

Over here, retailers are already discounting them from ~$400 MSRP to anything between $375 and $390, though due to VAT I doubt they'll be able to go below $370.

And people do buy the Switch, even the biggest stores only have max. 20 units where I live
