Paradox increased the prices of their games before this Steam sale and then pretended they were listening to the fans' outcry over it but, imagine the surprise, they couldn't normalize the prices mid-sale because of technical reasons. Now they're giving free games to customers who bought certain affected games instead of refunding the differences. Basically, people is realizing Paradox are greedy cunts totally committed to exploiting their audience. Which is ironic because their origin story is going independent because of bad publisher experiences they had years ago.

I think the problem is each Paradox game only really has a handful of good expansions that are planned and then a ton of "we can charge people money for this so why not do it" content. I think CK2 gone through planned content updated what, almost two years ago? Now they're just putting stuff out because will buy it regardless.

But keep in mind Vicky2 and HoI3 are not that good without all DLC. So what you wanna do is buy them all to gain access to the paradox forum to get all mods and then pirate them with all DLC like a good boy (or activate all DLC legit on steam with cream api, check cs.rin.ru if you know what you are doing).

Bit of advice for you OP

>Never buy a paradox game within the first 2 years of launch because it will be bare bones and buggy

EU4 is the entry level for GSG for Paradox, Victoria and Hoi (until Hoi4) were more advanced and niche, Victoria had politics and demographics, Hoi had warfare, Eu4 has gotten 9 full dlcs and one "immersion pack" that charged players 10 euro to give Russia lazy buffs, if you don't buy the dlcs the game is unbalanced as fuck as they add in features that can only be countered by dlc, base game is worthless unless you buy at least Common Sense and Art of War, they then raised the prices because of "muh inflation" and finally people snapped, most places outside of /gsg/ were actually happy at them putting out dlcs that gave you features that should have been core for 20 euro a pop

pic related the type of retards that inhabit the offical forums, were a dev also compared pirating to child molesting and banned the word "Kebab" for racism.

Eu4 is fun I love it, but I had the disposable income to buy the dlcs like a retard because they fucking monopolized the genre basically, the game is 4 years old and the base game is still 40 euro. The increased casualization is also horrible, example the fucking mana system you need to use to do shit like develop provinces suppress rebels.

You have 3 mana types, Administrative , Diplomatic, and Military, in order to progress in tech you need enough of these points to basically level up, admin for government and production and shit, Diplomatic for diplomacy and fucking naval tech for some reason and Military for armies, it makes the game so retarded in aspect, in order for example to create a really powerful small state you need to dump these mana points into it, you want a bigger manpower pool? MANA You want better production from your mines and farms? MANA, you want more tax money? MANA you can actually fall behind in tech because you improved your farms.
