Lttp (swordless) was pretty good because good couch, runner and announcer.
Freedom planet had a strong but silent runner with a couch that would never stop talking technical about the game and singing the runner's praises at high speed.
Jedi Knight 2 had a runner on cocaine even if the couch was more or less dead.
Super metroid race ended 12 minutes in and become a solo run, also had Paddy on the couch like the Lttp run.

I'm tempted to start going to some, but I have no friends and don't run any games. I'm vaguely involved in the communities of a couple runners for a certain game, but no one "knows me" and I doubt I'd even be worth filling an empty seat on their coach. I am bread was a meme game with one single trick, but the ridiculousness of it made it kinda worth.

Specter of torment looked fine, but the call to the devs was fucked up because skype is shit.

HeartGold/SoulSilver was a complete shitshow. The RNG seeding failed, the backup's RNG seeding failed too because they took too much time naming shit, and it kept on going from there. Also, edobean.

The kirby runs were fine, but felt too long to be really that worth. Also, edobean.

The Megaman X block is always kinda fun, even though the race on X2 was decided early on.

Bionic Commando Rearmed was fun, but I supposed I'm a PJ memelord fan. Tread cautiously.

Chrono trigger was good and comfy, and this category makes it a bit smaller. Nice as a background on a second screen while you do other shit.

Tetris block was surprisingly uninteresting. The 8 men race was more of a survival, screens were tiny as shit, and protomagicalgirl's commentary didn't help anything at all.

KH2FM was pretty good, and the singing segments during the autoscrollers were surprisingly not shit.

Dark Souls 3 was a pretty diverse run, and the runner actually knew when things were going to slow down a bit to put in some donations meaning the reader wasn't chomping at the bit for the cool parts. For the length I didn't expect it to be so consistently watchable. And the dark souls 1 after was pretty funny.

Majora's masks has some cool tricks, but it's maybe a bit long. Took a nap.

Still, overall, SGDQ was a nice background noise with some good surprises and some terrible times.

I've only been watching GDQs for a couple years now but it seems like PJ's runs are always great. If it's a bad game like Lagoon, it's still a good run because he makes it entertaining. He made it sound like breaking Lagoon in front of a hundred htousand people was revenge for wasting money on it as a kid.

I would imagine that many games (especially games that rely upon statistics / random drops like RPGs) are extremely susceptible to bad RNG unless the RNG can be manipulated.

Runs either try to avoid the RNG with very specific strategies or work with the RNG to facilitate faster runs. Pokemon appears to be about as random as RPGs come.
