One of my favorite games of all time is Fable 2
People are mad that the game didnt have a proper final boss but i felt like from a narrative perspective it was still good enough

Bad how? Comparatively speaking, TFU is a good game. It is finished, technically sound and responsive, the score and VA work isn't choppy and recorded well. I think you mean to say games that aren't popular or perhaps divisive based on the subject matter. There are lots of bad games out there, and just because this one would be a derivative action game, it isn't a bad one.

Doctor Who Cloned Me is only a 4.9/10 at its best and its a lot better than the main campaign but damn if I don't enjoy this broken piece of shit for some reason, mostly just Duke.

That's a good game though a bit short... It does suck where they took things though.

The Cursed Crusade
Bound By Flame
Lords of the Fallen (though it is arguably not bad)
>>
>>383331220

I agree. It's a very enjoyable game and by no stretch bad. It is however plagued with glitches and some clunky force controls.

They fixed literally everything that irked me about the controls in the second one, while also adding dismemberment. The downside is that they apparently spent so much time working on the combat mechanics that they forgot to make a game to put it in.

I never got to finish TFU2. I made it to some boss where you were flying downwards through the sky, then my step-brother borrowed it and his friend stole it. One day I'll have to pick it up again.

This may come as a shocker but I really enjoy roblox. A few games, apoc rising and phantom forces, are very well made and a case could be made to market both of them as full games (in the case of apoc rising, it was marketed standalone as unturned)

I liked the game and thought it was 8.6/10 in my book. The game should've been more semi open like from beta footage they showed at gamescom 2011 or 2012. Capcom really rushed the development cycle and they had to make changes to the story and levels to meet the dead line. The music was totally fantastic and I still listen to the sound tracks every now and then. The combat and combo system was good but could've been expanded a bit more. I wish the game just had more more to it or a dlc expansion.
>>
>>383332305
sometimes you can just enjoy the premise of a game. I enjoyed it too, but i would never go back and play it again.
>>
>>383332305
No, this isn't true at all. Whether or not you like something has zero impact on whether or not it is good. You can like a bad game, you can dislike a good game. It can be a factor to consider, whether or not you were entertained, when you are thinking about recommending a title, but it doesn't reflect the quality of the game. For instance, OP thinks this game is bad because of the story, which is a subjective view of the story, but that again is arbitrary. Whether or not a game is good comes down to mechanics. If a game has responsive controls, level design that makes sense, music and VA work that obviously was professionally done, and ultimately completes the goal the game set out to make, then it's a good game. If a game is glitchy, controls poorly or has level design that is haphazzard and illogical, then those are objectively poor traits for a video game.
Your idea that whether or not you like something reflects the quality of a game is the single most important factor as to what destroyed modern gaming journalism.

Could you expand on this line of thinking because you were going somewhere that I would love to read about.

the combat system needed to be less rigid, make the combos actually custom instead of slotting in effects on pre-made combos and use all the fucking buttons instead of just 3
>>
>>383333162
Modern gaming journalism is a pay-to-win system generally, however, if you look at the content of any major review these days, they focus too heavily on the "fun" aspect. Whether they enjoyed playing the game, which is fine to put in your review, but that is not what is important. For instance, say a reviewer played a grand strategy game like Stellaris Utopia or Hearts of Iron, but they have no clue how to play those games or no interest. So these games take thought and lots of time to learn the nuances and are pretty good games for what they set out to do, but the reviewer can't win a match and gets bored so they say it isn't fun and don't recommend it. When basing your review on your enjoyment rather than what a game actually is and what it sets out to do, you're just a cog in the marketing department and not an objective reviewer. That's what I meant.
For instance, I don't like Grand Theft Auto games, or really any sandbox games. I don't find them entertaining but I recognize the effort and work that went into them and that they are good games. If I simply said I don't recommend them because I don't find them fun, I would be a modern gaming journalist and be a part of the problem.

Huh.. I played the ps3 version and the graphics liked very impressive for the console. Honestly thought it looked just as good or even better than the last of us.
Version from gamescom is better than the final product release on pc tho.

don't know what you're on? aside from little things like having less text popups in general, the graphics are pretty much the same as in that video, but better ofc because 4K (think I ended up playing it mostly in 1440p though). Level design in the trailer seemed more open and the final game is 95% linear but still pretty

Its not a bad game, the world building is good, the characters are likable, the combat is pretty decent, allowing you to switch to one of 4 combat styles on the fly, the voice work is pretty good, and the story isn't bad. The problem is that you spend the first 15~ hours in the main city, then you go to the next quest hub, but half the missions send you right back to the first area again. Then you make it to the next quest hub, and right away you are sent back to the first quest area again for missions. You can tell that they put a lot of effort into the game, but after about 20 - 25 hours they had no idea where the story was going or new set pieces to make, so it all just went back to the same areas again.

I'm a huge fan of the DMC series, but I didn't hate this game. It's horribly written, has some major, major design flaws, and is painfully easy even on Dante must Die mode, but there's something weirdly relaxing about it. It's kinda fun to just mellow out and beat the shit out of bad guys. Some of the songs are okay for this style of game and the art design is great, at times.

Also the Watch Dogs series. Terrible writing and game design, but it's fun to sneak into places, get all the top secret info, and get out before anyone figures out what happened.

This was the first RPG I've ever played and the only other games I've played were racing games and some mainstream shooters. I don't understand how 30 people find 30fps unplayable after playing Two Worlds for a hundred hours.

Love that hybrid of modern and classic MGS controls in this game, also despite everything else in the story I still really like the final fight and the sad but unnecessary meeting with Big Boss.
