Crash sucked even back in the day but it was somewhat forgiven for being early 3D. Back then and even now the games are filled with awful design but the new versions have even worse physics and gameplay. I don't know anyone who was crazy for Crash or holds nostalgia for anything but CTR. It had some good sounds and music/Aku Aku but aside from that it's the epitome of play the first few levels/until a boulder level and then call it good for the rest of the year.

If this industry was held to the same standards as others, sure, we wouldn't get reviews as quick or as many, but we wouldn't have reviewers playing half a game and then writing an article, or the Editor in Chief of a leading website married to the Vice President of Public Relations of one of the biggest video game hardware and software producers.

I think playing the whole game through is good if you are going to give it a positive review. To ensure the whole game is consistently good.
