Not really, the snes classic hype have shown that there is a huge market for 90's nostalgia.

We are still in the millennium now. Just see the amount of Noriko Mitose`s Radical Dreamers covers popping up recently because the generation that played Chrono Cross is finally tasting the nostalgia.

Time doesn`t make me sad, someday even remakes will become games from 20 years ago, what is making me sad is to see that while people explored ideas from the early 90s a lot, ideas from the late 90s are left unexplored because they are too much for an indie team to handle.
>>
The early 2000's were an extension of the 90's, nobody should be hating it.
>>
>>383326838
I think it mostly shows that there's a huge market for well-marketed, hype-driven products in general.
>>
I am unironically obsessed with the early 2000s simply because of how short-lived the culture/aesthetic was. I wonder on a daily basis how things would have developed if everything hadn't been derailed by 9/11, social media and smartphones.

People in their 30s go where they are used to going.

Essentially, you'll still be stuck here when you're 30-35 and there will be a new place that the younger kids go that you don't.

When does one have to be born to be a true early 2000s kid?

And no, 2004-2005 are not early 2000s, they're mid For some reason I always see dumbasses born in 1999 who think American dragon jake long, the iDog, and Club Penguin are "early 2000s things"

I don't know, to me 2000-2008 had the same aesthetic. Then smart phones and social media happened and changed things. 2014 was the next big turning point when politics went crazy and weird 70s/80s/90s styles came back everywhere.

I think we need to split the 00s into two parts. 9/11 to 2006, and 2007-2009

2001-2006 still retained the "xtreme" feel of the late 90s. 2007-2009 saw the rise of social media, Tumblr, iPhones, Big Bang theory, autotune, hipsters, Great Recession, etc

>>
>>383330963

it really was more like two distinct half-decades separated by hip-hop's popularity and smartphones. 2000-2005 was a weird but comfy time

I mean, when you talk about the 70s, the 80s and the 90s (and 60s, 50s, and so on) there's always a very distinctive aesthetic to all of them.
They have a very distinct fashion, distinct music genres and other culture traits.
2000s and 2010s seem like they don't necessarily have any own identity, they are empty. For music we have, err... dubstep?
What's the typical fashion sense of this decade? Justin Bieber's haircut?

I dunno about defining a decade but I always think the best way to tell someone's age is by showing them old commercials and seeing which ones hit with them. Like for example I'm willing to bet anybody who was a kid in the late 90's or early 00's knows this by heart.

>>383341098

>>
>>383340798
You're specifically fixating on fashion and music, though, and there's more to what defines a decade than just that. Yeah, 00s/10s aren't as distinct as the 70s/80s/90s in terms of music or fashion, but they are in terms of technology and world events. It's not like every decade can be as aesthetically distinct as those three, which happened in a time of prosperity and excess that doesn't happen all the time and isn't happening now.

>but they are in terms of technology and world events.

70s had vietnam, 80s had berlin wall, 90s had gulf war, every decade has a world event. I'll give the 2000s the 9/11 though, probably one of the most shocking moments in humanity's history since Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
As for technology, 70s and 80s saw a lot of technological advancement, I mean, it's when Video Games actually became a thing (even further back if you count things like Space War).
Also, it's not just the 70s/80s/90s that had a distinctive fashion and music, that's why I also mentioned 50s, 40s, you can still keep going back, 30s, 20s, they all have their distinctive signature fashion and music.
For some reason 00s and 10s don't, or the little they do is irrelevant and seem like an empty shell of what once was fashion and music.
And I bring fashion and music because they're 2 things that are the first things that comes to mind when someone talks about a decade.
Social media isn't that impressive to me, it's basically a degeneration of bbs boards which have been around for decades too.
>>
>>383341391

I swear I had all those figures where their heads were hidden in their bodies or whatever but I don't remember what happened to any of them. Only one that was still around during the time when I was getting old enough to just dump everything in garage sales was the green ranger. I didn't even like him that much I was always about the Black and Blue rangers since one was the best character on the show and the other was a cool tech guy.

actually got into sentai/rider back in 2011 and I gotta say, to this day In Space/Megaranger has the best suits bar none.

90's material is kind of kicking the ass of everything else around it...

People only reference early 90's material like new wave and power rangers, but between 95-1999 all sorts of aesthetics are still much more favorable to prior design choices. People still opt for compatibility over quirkiness, there's a ton of appreciation for urban settings in vidya, some characters even wear Timbs and whatever in Street-Fighter.

Just look at Piper Wright as well from Fallout 4. She's like the 90's buttsex dream, sticking it inside her is like pure E M O T I O N, I mean Jeff Buckley, Nirvana, Tupac levels of anal. You can't make this shit up!

It'll happen eventually, it always happens with nostalgia. You don't remember the shitty parts, or at least you downplay them. Don't expect it for another five years at least though. Hell I'm 23 and we're only recently getting to the point where nostalgia threads are as much about the late 90's/early 00's as they were the early/mid 90's.

Late 90's and 00's had a lot of fashion with baggy clothing, with the "rock punk" and hip-hop culture, Then comes the emo scene with their tight jeans, black shirts and stupid hair.

I was born in 1994, can't remeber a lot of early 2000's but when I was a kid I always thought that the world would be like that forever, that I'll ended up using a cassette player, driving under the yellow lights of the streets with the radio on, play on a gameboy.
It's kind of sad that we'll never be able to experience those things. I like the world how it is today, but I can't help but think that those time are gone.
