are the sidequests even worth doing? I skipped most of them

DESU the whole game is tedious and boring. I'll never fucking understand the people who defend this garbage.

-The sidequests are literally WoW quest tier.
-To get the LE TRUE ENDING you have to play through the boring ass game again with a shitty whiny sissy faggot japanese/white boy high schooler.
-The world is way too ridiculously small to justify THREE playthroughs just to get the real ending.

why are they tedious? The vast majority of the time you'll already have the things the quest requests.

If you're,on low level and poor, recommended to do side quests.
If you're high level and rich, you can skip em.

Some quests are important like YoRHa Betrayers or the E-Unit one.

If you didnt do the Emil Quest in A/B you will miss out on one really nice scene.

What is even the point of Taro's multiple route system anyway?

It worked in Nier 1 because the story was about telling it from multiple perspectives, but he seems to use this system of having to play through the game multiple times in every game he makes.

It was worse in NieR, you had to beat the same second half twice in C and D after getting the additional cutscenes in B. Not to mention the fact you had to get all weapons in between B and C
