MGS3 was the perfect classic MGS. PW pushed the boundaries of what could be done in a handheld game, and may just be the best handheld game ever made. And V because it remains the most memorable of the franchise, for its trailers, its hype, some of its missions that were just perfect, despite a story that just wasn't there. It was supposed to bridge the gap between the Big Boss and Solid Snake storylines, but it left an even bigger hole instead that I'm struggling to fill up, and that I have to live with.

Clearly Big Boss > Solid Snake.

I have a soft spot in my heart for 4 because of the final Ocelot fight, and the tunnel Snake goes through and gets cooked. Plus the graphics and gameplay are still impressive even today, nearly 10 years later.

Spent the most time with 2 and its VR missions, enjoyed its gameplay the most. I enjoyed 3's gameplay as well as the story and setting so I guess it's a tie between 2 and 3.

MGS3, definitely. I loved 4 as well, but honestly I keep going back to 3 because of the story, boss fights, etc. Fucking love Big Boss.

It was a different time. If the devs wanted it to be secret, it was a secret. The trailers also outright lied to you more or less and showed Snake in a scene that would show Raiden in the game.

People just read about it in the magazines and assumed the magazines were wrong. The hype wasn't the same either. Plus those were different times, people were happy they had a game at all, they wouldn't really whine about it, and then the character swap was different, and well executed, while in V, it's not really the issue, the issue is we knew before because we wouldn't fall for the same trick twice, and then the story was disappointed and not well executed.

I could have put 2 in first but I enjoyed 3 more the first time playing it. 1 is still great but just not as good as 2+3. 4 could have been amazing if they just put in more actual gameplay. 5 has a great core gameplay but it gets repetitive, there aren't really any boss fights besides the very end, the story sucks, and it's all outdoors. PW basically introduced everything wrong with 5.

The original release didn't even let you choose what part of the game you played for the first playthrough, it just asked you (using Rose's voice) if you already played MGS1.

Yes = Tanker-Plant.
No = Plant, with the option of playing the Tanker section later in the game when Snake talks you about it.

Amazing to think newcomers of the series just started with Raiden and didn't probably know what the fuck was going on and why they weren't doing the Tanker stuff featured in trailers and screenshots.
