It lets people live a normal social life even if they can't get a job which will make them keep into contact with people and don't make them desperate and depressive for losing a job. Meaning they can re-enter the workforce quite rapidly if they want to.

In the end I think a high welfare rate actually saves the government money in the long run because people don't tend to fall into the "poverty trap" of needing livelong benefits because they will eventually return to the job markets and don't need therapy for everything

I have a salary of $87k with biannual bonuses between 10-15%, profit sharing for the projects I work on, and full medical benefits while only being out of school for a few years now. I went to college and actually cared about my education, and wow who'd of thunk it my investment and responsibility has paid off.

Also, if you only earn $22k after graduating from college then you went to college for completely the wrong reason and wasted your time entirely. Any career level job that legitimately requires a college degree beyond it being a hamfisted interview filter will actually pay you accordingly. You're right about that, but even then it's really not as bad as some people make it out to be. While I've ended up with a nice job, I also had 32k of debt. My parents had a big plan to eliminate the need of any loans but then the housing market exploded just as I was graduating from high school and most of the money they had saved for 20 years vanished. But 32k on a typical 10 year plan is something like $400 a month, my car payments are that much and my rent is more than 4x that much, it sucks to carry the additional burden but it's manageable. There's still plenty of success to be had that makes the investment of a college degree worth it, but like I said it's not a success that anyone is entitled to and right now we're living in a generation of kids who apply that entitlement to every aspect of their lives.
