As an ex-WoW mythic raider, I find FFXIV fights a lot more creative and fun. Also more difficult because you don't have 50 billion addons telling you exactly where to stand and when to do things.

The game has its issues but it does a lot of things better than WoW, raiding is one of them.

50ish seconds of literally 0 DPS is a major DPS loss even if you couldn't skip soar. Then you have to do Demon's Claw which means the MT is doing 0 DPS, and healers and melees are doing less DPS. Skipping soar shaves a good 1.5 minutes off the fight which is why farm groups were so insistent upon doing it.

The last time I played FFXIV was at the beginning of heavensward. I remember fighting some bug guy that dropped weapons and then some guys legs where I had to stand in a laser to intercept a rocket or some shit. There were like 2 or 3 4-man dungeons at that time. Re-using the same music for everything (along with the fact you can't do MSQ in party) killed my drive to play the game. The music used on primal fights is okay, but 99% should be something else, not a progressive rock or metal song that feels shoehorned (it doesn't make good syntheses with the scenario, except for maybe Titan). This is legitimately the first or second game where I muted the music.
Only fight that made me feel hyped was Thordan. Two attempts later I realized how bland and boring it is.
I give you that, everything looks flashy as fuck or "eyecandy".
