That they wanted to write something that dumb Japanese teenagers, who are the main target audience, would be able to understand and relate to in some way. So shit was not written for you or even really adults in general if im being honest. Since persona has always pandered to the larges audience possible in japan, that being teens and young adults still in school and neets i guess. The japanese VA choices between Shido, Joker, and Akechi are too good. Shido is Char, Joker is Lelouch, and Akechi is Light Yagami.

When framed like that, it's almost impossible to not think Akechi's character fits the voice too well.
