Get a pickaxe and hit your computer until you find some minerals

The computer parts are held at gunpoint to digitally dig for blood bitcoins. I think there was a leonardo dicaprio movie about it

It's a process designed to help you pay more for electricity by having your pc try to calculate some useless pronumeral combination until such time when a select group of people in control of bitcoin decide to cash out (properly, unlike the last few times).

Download and run the mining program. It has mediocre results, uses a lot of electricity and wears off your hardware pretty quickly. It yield less and less over time (the block is made in a way the difficulty is always getting harder, so it takes more effort to get coins later).

Ideally, you want to mine a coin in its release day, and hope it pick up steam and get a huge value like bitcoin and ethereum did. Odds are it wont, but you got them in the first day easily , so no big losses.

People buying dozens of GPUs are WAAAAAAY too late for the party and are going to crash really hard

>mining in 2017
Idiots are way too late to the party. Can't wait for all the used high end cards floating around for €100 or something.
>>

Can someone give me a rundown on mining? Heard about it for the first time last week from a friend.

This, this shit should have ended a month ago, before they even started digging into the 1060s and 1070s. I don't understand how mining eth as an individual could still be profitable. I guess it's just chinese mining cabals buying them all up?

Some sites / magazines did some report on how some early adopters made cash with ethereum and a bunch of people with more money than brains jumped on the ship buying multiple PCs and GPUs without understanding:
>Block difficulty
>Hardware specs and bottlenecks
>Electricity prices and limits (your standard electric grid cant handle 10+ high end pcs at full load)
