BLM on paper does more damage than RDM, but with the way fights are made it's difficult for BLM to reach their true potential. People keep moving to much or they use their cooldowns at the wrong time. Example: BLM uses leylines then gets suddenly targeted by purple mark in Susano and have to move away from circle. Moving is losing DPS, the reduced duration from leylines also affects your DPS. Meanwhile RDM can handle the mechanic by just dual casting everything.

DRG went from decent single target DPS with some utility to Support:Melee lance edition. And of course the majority of DRG players including JP players are blowing a gasket because no one signed up for being a support class. "Hey you know that one class thats known for jumping and shit? Yeah let's do everything opposite of that."

Drg obviously was obviously designed by someone who has no grasp of the class.

Switch BRD with RDM and your list would be perfect. RDM is 2nd highest DPS on FFlogs right now and brings enough utility for that extra raid wide physical DMG increase given how NIN and SAM are guranteed raid spots while MNK and DRG are interchangable

RDM is also free as fuck though, with free raises and mana shift. Combined with the fact that MCH is kinda dead and RDM being really really easy compared to how hard BLM and SMN are now, it's going to be pretty common in progression unless triple melee is a thing. I always felt BLM cannot work in FF14 without lower gcds and less movement restricting spells. Im surprised they havent even been given a spell to make running and casting a thing yet. Swiftcast is the only one and it's on a very long cooldown thats best saved for Flare or some other long cast spell. Playing a mage in WoW is ten times more fluid due to all the abilities given to help in movement fights, not to mention the instant casts you can get from procs.

Scathe is your filler during running around. The chance to do extra damage I suppose is Square's way of balancing letting BLM keep some dps during mechanics, but it's still a shitty fix. You might as well play a ranged character at that point like bard or mch.

Some 2-3% of raid dps is attributed to them, which gives them enough power to remain relevant. While speedrun meta may drop BRD in favor of RDM, BRD is one of the classes to have a god stat (Crit) which will only scale better in time. Nature's Minne is a very powerful buff if its used often and Paeon/Troubadour both have their uses as well. BRD is also the one dps that loses nothing and is able to perform closest to their dummy parse no matter what they do.

I like MCHs in concept but my biggest issue with them is most of their animations suck ass (not counting the stormblood stuff), their turret is incredibly lame, and I've never liked how they only hold their gun with one hand like they're some kind of gunslinger instead of a proper rifleman.

You niggers sure are stupid. Okay let me explain, if you are melee and there's an Aoe mechanic, you have to immediately disconnect from the boss. This is a dps loss. If you are a ranged caster, you can attack from a range and not need to disconnect.

This makes your dps more stable than Melee considering you aren't bad and know how to move during the fight. This is double for physical ranged as they have both mobility and range.

Now, in 2.0 and 3.0 ranged dps was fucking broken, so they fixed this by turning down the numbers slightly. If you increase BLM numbers it will have more up time than a SAM/easier time dealing with disconnect.

This makes SAM useless because why would you want a Melee when a ranged is much safer and NIN provides trick and slashing for tanks.

Has the quality of healers dropped significantly since the expansion started?

I've mained WHM since I started playing, and I very rarely do instanced content on any other class, so I have little frame of reference when it comes to healers in 4 man content. I've just been doing my normal amount of DPS, even during big pulls, but I've gotten a ton more compliments since early access. People have been telling me things like "I've been grinding dungeons all day and you're the first healer I've seen DPS". And I consider myself very average.

I know that those kinds of no DPS healers exist, but I thought they were fairly rare. Did they suddenly multiply or something?

Just look at MCH and BRD during the ending of HW. There as not a single group that ran anything but BRD MCH DRG and NIN. Even then if not for trick BLM would have easily taken NIN's spot for how much damage it could do.
