I was going to post that as well, but, thinking about it again, Nier's characters, story and storytelling is pretty different from the more conventional approach of games like Berseria and Persona. Imo, the target audience of Berseria is nearer to the target audience of Persona than the Nier's one.

Other characters are fine but they didn't make the combat feel any better to me. Easily my biggest gripe with the game since there were times when I dozed off mid battle. Upping the difficulty just made battles last longer but didn't improve them.

I usually did a combination of Velvet/Rokurou/Phi/and Magilou, and would switch every now and then to Eizen or switch Rokurou as the player character.

I personally found Eleanor to be kinda trash compared to others and never used her unless I was forced to.

Never got a game over the entire game, although I was playing on Normal. Would probably recommend any new players to do it on Hard, since I found the combat a bit too easy.

I switch characters all the time. Assists are easy combo extenders and for more Souls. Changing active party members is also a good way to extend combos from active character who is finishing their combo string. For example, making Velvet finish her BS and changing to another character gives you plenty of time to follow up.

If you are not using all the characters, you are really missing out.
