been playing healer in every game where it's needed for the last two decades because nobody else in my group ever wants to, and it's always by far the easiest job. only occasional exceptions ares when you either massively underheal content and you have to play flawlessly (which no game is balanced around the healers doing because olol that's too hard for the fragile souls and might get them to quit) or when you get healers who heal through dps or need to do good dps to heal. of course that last one is only 'difficult' (e.g. not brainafkingly easy) because you're doing two roles at once. shit, 99.99% of healers never even realize that they have the ability to do damage, and many will get genuinely offended that you suggest they do anything but stand there at 100% mana doing nothing if there's nothing to heal.

Dunno about FF14, but I've played a lot of paladin as all three roles in WoW, and by far the one's that's easiest to carry with is as tank. You can take a bunch of retards through almost any level dungeon as a good tank. But if you're a good dps or a good healer following a bad tank around you're just along for the ride. All the added dps in the world can't speed up your run enough to compensate for a tank that has no idea how to pull, position, what to interrupt, what he can't interrupt and has to avoid, how to survive big pulls, skip packs, etc.

Not to say anything in WoW is all that hard, but tank by far being the most influential and interactive role seems to me to necessarily make it the hardest one to play. Raids are another thing, of course. There tanking is by far the most boring, outside maybe of a couple of fights with adds.

I've only played AST and WHM and I feel that in my experience AST is bit more fun.

Healer is interesting in that, in my experience, it's the one role where you need to adapt most. If tank is good and knows what defensive cooldowns are you can just pop regen on them and focus on dps, but if they are made out of paper you will be showing curative magic up that ass as fast as you can.
You never know what kind of dungeon experience you get this time.
