Almost every modern fps uses digital inputs for movement, which means analog sticks don't give you any advantage. You want to make precise movements into 8 directions rather than imprecise movements into freeform directions.
Controller has an advantage in other games such as Souls where locking on and running at slight angle towards enemy might actually be useful, but try CS for a moment with gamepad and you realize what kind of pain in the ass strafing in and out of cover with analog stick is.
Being able to immediately switch from -100 to 100 with extreme precision is much greater advantage than minute detail in movement direction, something you can already carefully control with the mouse anyways.

I have grown to like playing shooters on console more. KBM places emphasis on twitch reflexes and erratic movement. With a controller, your range of motion is limited, making shootouts more predictable and positioning dependent - they're often won before anyone fires a shot. I find tis way more cerebral.

I can't into controllers. I have an xbox controller I can hook up to my PC but even for games like Dark Souls or Nier or whatever else "you really need a controller to play" I just end up using M+KB, which always works fine.
Only exception is when I play on PS3 in which case I'm forced to use a controller, but that's rare.

Except it isn't. Majority of modern FPS use digital for movement with few exceptions. You can test this yourself, if you're tilt the analog stick slightly you won't move any slower than if you tilt it all the way. You maintain the same speed no matter how much angle is applied to the analog stick.
