Skyrim lets you resist almost as much magic with enchanting. I was laughing at Miraaks weak little spells that did no damage when I was level 50 and that was as a dunmer.

Reflect damage only applies to melee, so you need armor to deal with archers. This makes the gearing a bit tighter, though it is possible to just pull it off. I think it goes, breton + Mundane Ring for magic immunity, then Escutcheon of Chorrol (35%), amulet (33%), and ring (33%) for melee immunity. But the amulet and ring are random leveled drops. You then have to devote four more slots (e.g., feet, legs, chest, hands) to get Shield 85%, if you want to do it all with enchanting.
But if you want to turn it into a walking simulator, just get Chameleon 100% from four-ish Sigil Stones.

I always play as a Dunmer because it just makes sense. It's not like races give you any particular skills, so you have an advantage to half the dragons and can blow through Dwemer ruins since all the booby traps are either fire based or poison darts.

If you want 100% Resist Magic why not just use The Gray Aegis? It's the single best way to get 100% Resist Magic that works for any race and all it takes is the shield slot.

Reinstalled Oblivion with a bunch of mods and after doing the DB questline I dont get the hype. The first half is great but the second goes downhill hard and the ending is anticlimactic as fuck.

Still better than anything in Skyrim.
