Latter. Any game that has a native competitive matchmaking mode should be removed. That doesn't mean games with ranks or statuses or levels. esports should form from games because they are fun, not because it's the only option.

'esports' nowadays feels so much more forced, like it's expected of every competitive game to be ESPORTS even if it just doesn't work. While people argue a lot over smash bros melees reputation as an actual esport, the competitive scene was built on passion for the game, while shit like overwatch would be much better as a semi-competitive shooter
