Basically every trap in Divinity: original sin. The chest that drops a comet on you is pretty great.
>>
I wish I didn't ruin my memory with weed.

Tenchu: wrath of heaven had some great traps.
>>
>>383045578
Deaths of 2 and 3 are dumb. Why did #2 fall, and #3 was in a REALLY specific position to get hit by that hook.
>>
>>383045749
this place is so much fun
>>
>>383046634
why is the first one moonwalking to his death?
why did the second one fall, and why are his arms suddenly coming out of the spike plate
how did the third person's chin get under the hook?
why is the fourth one activated his wrist and boot rockets to fly backwards into spikes?
>>

There was this one really old Flash horror game on Newgrounds where you had to look around a room with a flashlight, and one text said "Don't read the rest of this text." Or something, if you moved the flashlight to see more text then you'd get jumpscared and killed. Stuck with me to this day.

Looks like he is being cut up by a wire which is being pulled up by the door. Which is just silly.
The entire trap scenario seems incredible unlikely to work. It'd be easier and probably more effective to just have the ceiling fall straight down

This. The entire thing is ridiculously convoluted. Like, the third person getting killed by the hook looks okay in 2d, but in 3d they'd either have to be in a specific position, or the trap would have to be lined with an entire row of hooks

the kinds of materials you need for this trap to work don't exist, that kind of wire doesn't exist, the amount of space you would need inside the spikewall to have that kind of air pressure is entirely unrealistic, the 2nd,3rd and 4th guys have to be standing on red Xs for the trap to even hit them, and the board is more likely to snap in half then launch someone anywhere, especially if the board is the more then just a small thin plank. Also the 4th dude wouldn't sideways over feet first.
>>
>>383049679
That's stupid. Why go through all that trouble of making some specialized rope when you can simply not tie the rope to anything and just leave it hanging with a small weight?

Whoever is smart enough to inspect the rope will spot either trap, but one is cheaper to put in place, and actually a great fucking classsic.

Fuckign noob dungeon designers I swear...

Most nightmarish shit ive ever encountered was IRL in Iraq. Pic related. Crush switch initiated IEDs. Skilled makers built it waaaay better than this, best ones used hair thin wires. Heres a rundown.

>2 pieces of hair thin wire are spray painted with an insulative coating and woven together in paired strands
>every 8 inches or so wire is rubbed bare and looped through a tiny rubber loop
>then wrapped in a tiny packet of tape
>the loop keeps the two bare wires seperate unless stepped on in which case it completes the circut and detonates a large buried bomb
>these were spead out around the bomb in 10 to 15 foot lengths like a spider web
>buried under the ground a few inches the hair thin wires werent enough metal for the metal detectors to blip, or enough mass to show up on ground penetrating radar scanners
>bomb is in center, you will never get close enough to it to worry abput its metal content

We NEVER fuckin figured out a way to beat those on foot patrols. Regular pressure plates were easy to pick up with metal detectors, tripwires can be spotted easily if you get a good eye for em, wires leading to a guy with a switch are too since they usually leave a trail where they were buried.

Those fuckin crush switches could just have a bit of dust over them and youd never see em unless you were right on top of it

Wire covered in diamond powder isnt sharp its abrasive. I have a "commando saw" thats just a wire with diamond powder you couldnt cut yourself with it if you tried. Its basically just wire covered in really tough sandpaper.

Why not just have the bow be cursed to explode or something. Its already enchanted to glow, why not go the extra mile and enchant it to do something actually nasty?

Hell it could even be subtle and work flawlessly until used in any stealth situation or critical fight at which point it bursts into brilliant flames and fucks your charecter over when he least expects/can afford it to. Good writer/DM could even drag it out and let the guy use it for a while to make the trap even more sweet when it finally springs.

Lazy RP writers never fail to amaze me. You got all this magic stuff that allows you to come up with essentially unlimited sadstic traps and devious tricks and theyll ignore that potential for some kinda wiley coyote cartoon bullshit.

Those guys really dont care about life and saftey like you or I do man. We did kinda figure out that if you thought one was somewhere like down an alley or across a road you threw a handful of candy at it.

If all the little haji kids swarmed the candy it was safe. If you toss a handful of candy on the ground in a 3rd world country and the kids wont go there to get it something is very very wrong. How they knew where they were is anyones guess. Maybe they just watched em get put there or something.

Also one time we used a donkey. Lost the donkey but didnt lose any guys.

Both sides were good with deception and traps.

In North Africa, Germans would drive tanks over camel poop for luck, and the allies took note of this and started planting land mines disguised as camel dung over this. The Germans began to notice and only ran over camel poop that was already overrun with tank tracks. In turn the alliens made mines that looked like overrun camel poop.
