Let's talk about the PSP, friends. 1000, 2000, 3000, or Go, all are welcome!

I had a model that you could output to tv just to play Crisis Core. After that I handed the PSP and Crisis Core to a local charity shop. I wish I still had it now so I could sell it for some crack.
>>
>>383024097
Screen started to go after about five months of no use.
Battery died extremely quickly.

It was shit.
>>
>>383024097
I have a 1000 and it works perfectly
>>
I have a go and a 3000 and I only ever use them to play project diva.
Anything else I should look at.
I hate my psp go, it's too fucking small for project diva.
>>
>>383024097
shitty handheld until you hack it.
also memory card prices were absolutely retarded until chinese knockoffs came out
>>
>>383024097
Obligatory
http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/PSP
>>
It's mostly a NeoGeo/CPS emulation machine for me. I love playing old arcade games on the go. The fact that it can also do PS1 and of course PSP makes it kind of insanely good.
>>
I dug out my old psp1000 and I know the last time I had it, it had custom firmware, but upon starting it up, it has official
firmware 6.38, this is going to be a pain to recustom isn't it
>>
>>383026186
No it's not, it's easy as shit.
Even 6.61 has CFW
>>
>>383026186
Its really easy dude. You just have to update to the latest version, drop a permanent cfw and you are set 4 lyfe
>>
I have a 1000, 3000 and Go all working wonderfully. Love em

After installing a CFW it was definitely great for playing PS1 backups and emulating old consoles.

Wouldn't buy a single actual PSP game for it though
>>
>>383026473
>>383027731
Oh wow, it got easier, huh? I remember the process being more difficult.
>>
>>383028227
Especially since loading times in some games from the disc were just bad.
Running isos from a microsd is so much faster for loadings.
>>
>>383028250
It's dead easy.
>Update to 6.61 OFW
>Download LME CFW
>Run the installer
>Run the launcher whenever you want to enter CFW after restarting
It almost couldn't be easier. Almost.
>>
Did they ever figure out what was going on with those bricks with Infinity?
My 3000 is perfectly fine but it seems like the website just vanished.

no more comfy ps1 emulation i guess
>>
I had the original brick, and I played it until the thumbstick was completely worn out and wouldn't work, and then I just used it for porn until I accidentally broke it.

>>

Stop using UMDs.
>>
>>383028609
>>383028667
Buy an extended battery?
>>
>>383028783
are chinese knockoffs any good? i can't find any sold by sony
>>
>>383028990
they're fine, i've had no trouble with mine
>>
>>383028516
>Run the launcher whenever you want to enter CFW after restarting
It's not permanent anymore? It used to be a one time thing. I know it was like that for some other models but not the original 1000.
>>
>>383029347
Oh yeah, if it's a 1000 then you can use the permanent version.
>>
Are Vita friends using adrenaline welcome to this thread?
>>
>>383029907
Sure, why not?
>>
>>383029625
Oh. Whew. Still the same process though? Update to 6.61 and download LME?
>>
>>383024097
unironically the most fun i've ever had with a console, all previous portables mostly sucked, small screens, poor design choices, boring nintendo franchises etc, but this was such a breath of fresh air that over the years i've carried it everywhere from the age of 7 to 12, i went through three models (2000,3000,Street) and bought Vita later on as well.
Somehow Sony handhelds are this super under-appreciated niche of pure perfection.
I wouldn't be into video games now if it wasn't for PSP/PS2.

PSP would have been truly goat if it had a second thumb analog
>>
>>383024097
i have a chink sd to mem card adapter that randomly stops working about 1/3 of the time i do any memory card related thing
>>
>>383024097
>tfw vita is finally getting sd card adapters
>>
>>383030648
True, but not that kind of analog.
I don't like the one on the PSP at all, it's awkward to use and slides from underneath the thumb. At least for me.
>>
>>383030235
The permanent version is just ME CFW and it installs a little differently.

This is my PSP 3000. I still play it quite a bit. Mostly for emulators these days but I want to get into some RPGs again.
>>
>>383031615
Too bad that while most of the gba games run great, Mario Tennis just won't. Single digit FPS. Fug.
>>
>>383031749
The only GBA games I care about run like crap. The PSP's utility as a handheld emulator is kind of overstated.
>>
>>383030648
n64 emulator ran like shit
>hur dur just play with no sound

deadeleus was wasted potential
>>
>>383032261
There's only so much you can get out of the hardware senpai.
>>
>>383032372
yeah, but it was SO CLOSE.
>>
>>383025112
Lumines, it's a great game on par with Rez with great music.
>>
>>383032876
It really wasn't, the PSP fell short on the SNES and GBA.
>>
>>383033024
the only game i couldnt run well on snes emu was killer instinct and starfox.

of course it wasnt 100% perfect but it was more than playable
>>
My PSP 3000 has this problem where the analog stick randomly freaks out and thinks it's pushed right for some reason. It really fucks with certain games like Monster Hunter.

>Bought another PSP 2000 cheap
>Replaying Freedom Unite after not playing a MH game for years
pretty comfy desu
>>
>>383033467
I have the same problem with the right stick on my Vita.
>>
>>383024097
I used to play Dissidia FF all the time on the bus to school, the PS1 emulator also let me play Silent Hill for the first time. Loved my PSP

used it to look at porn for the first time before I had any other internet accessing device and I read doujins on it
>>
I really want to play Mega Man Powered Up but need a PSP first.

Where should I buy it from? Also, what model? I vaguely remember the 3000 being the best one but I'm not sure.

Any help would be appreciated!
>>
>>383035535
>Also, what model?
That's actually a pretty tough question. 2000, 3000, Go and even Vita all have advantages.
>>
How would I go about acquiring one?
>>
>>383035660
Im also looking for one under 200$, forgot to mention that. Lots of stuff coming out in the fall that I want.
>>
>>383035803
Even a Vita won't set you back that much. I'd be surprised to see a PSP going for more than $50.
>>
>>383035859
W-where
>>
I remember I had to sell my PSP when I lost my job all those years ago.

Funny this thread came up, I was cleaning out my garage and I found my Pandora Battery but I have no PSP to put it in.
>>
>>383029270

where can you find PSP mem cards though? Really want more than fucking 2 GB
>>
>>383039610
Just get one of the adaptors to micro SD.
>>
>>383039610
do they not make MS pro duo to microsd card adapters anymore?
It should support at least 32GB cards.

My go is a portable psx, i simply lov it
>>
>>383028227
I did buy a few, just for sake of owning. Like Power Stone Collection, BoF3, Shin Budokai 2 which were pretty cheap.
>>
>>383041259

>>
>>383042418

All my games and apps vanished after installing adrenaline.

>help
>>
>>383041835
PSP includes a first party emulator of psx, so i would say it works 99% flawless
>>
>>383042969
your stuff is in the pspemu folder right
>>
>>383024097

How shit is the 1000 compared to the others?

Does the extra-ram make games run noticeably smoother?
>>
>>383043415
i like the weight better
>>
>>383042979
It's closer to 80% desu, Megaman Legends fucks up for example.

>>383043415
Emulators will run a lot better on later models.
>>
>>383043278

>>

>>
>>383043565

Yeah but what about PSP games?

I want to get Dracula X
>>
>>383043715
I don't think it matters for most games. I heard Type-0 had problems but that's it.
>>
>>383043415
1000 and 2000 both have really bad screens.
>>
>>383043946
3000 has problems of its own.
>>
My only wish is that the Vita gets a proper n64 and nds emulator
>>
>>383043651
Maybe you should try using the easy installer
>>
>>383043715
Dracula x runs fine in my 3000.

and it's a great game, i fully recommend, especially since you also get 2 classics along and the SotN version has all the stuff the japanese version had like the 2 bonus familiars.
>>
>>383044431

In fact, I did!

After the last reboot, all installed games vanished from the homescreen.
My bought games appear from time to time, after several reboots.
I´ll try reinstalling it now..
>>
>>383044223
It has some interlacing problems but I'll take that with better colors over washed out with ghosting.
>>
>>383045119

I installed the easy installer again and deleted adrenaline. After a reboot a few bubbles reappeared. But, the easyinstaller vanished.
