Metro is dumbed down consolized shit. The shooting mechanics are way worse since they're designed for game pads. In stalker you had to take into account the wind and ballistics physics, the weight of your backpack or exosuit, how damaged the gun was, you always had doubts about whether npcs were potential friends or foes, the possibility of mutants roaming the area or incoming blowouts, the map being genuinely open and fully explorable meant you could easily stumble across a building full of overpowered enemies you are not strategically ready to take on but with the element of surprise and some luck it was possible despite incredible challenge, etc. Every gunfight was an intense and memorable life or death situation.
