Blizzard's garbage approach to content is what's killing this game, and I don't mean killing as in dropping playerbase.
I mean this game is almost identical to what it was when it released and the changes have pretty much all been negative.

The new maps are all bad
Two of the three new heroes are bad and the third enabled quad tank meta for way too fucking long
Cosmetics have only become more of a jewish scheme
Blizzard REFUSES to fix the cosmetics scheme other than very minor changes
They're constantly pushing out new marketing material, WAY faster than new content

There is NO fucking reason that Blizzard should have put money into a goddamn D. Va statue when the map team hasn't even finished Horizon yet

The game is too static. Each map is absurdly simple and linear, the strategy never changes even if you tried different compositions. The "single control point" design of the Assault and Escort gametypes are lacking. For the most part your whole team gathers up into a deathball and crashes into the enemy until you get your Ultimates, applying your Ultimate effectively is what the entire game hinges on.

Most Characters are extremely niche and inflexible. Most are not fun to play as they are literally little more than their one gimmick and their Ultimate. Only a few like Soldier 76 (of all fucking characters, it's the generic military shooter guy and not most of the people with fancy high tech magical shit) have some degree of versatility.

Because of the previously mentioned way that game modes require a certain type of cohesion and hinging on Ultimates, the game is "team based" in a way that is NOT fun at all when you're playing with random people who are obviously not going to suddenly start working well as a team together.

It's fucking boring.

Climbed to GM tier the first 3 seasons (mid 60-ish the first season), game became stale and boring. First few weeks during every season was kinda fun, but holy hell did they inflate the SR gains. I've never seen players this bad up here seasons 1 & 2

I still play it from time to time. It's my guilty pleasure game, I pick it up and play a round if I've got a spare half hour. Mechanically it's a lot more simple than other games I play, but I think there's some depth to team composition and ability usage. It doesn't feel 'press Q to win' like a lot of people say.

That said I think it has some issues. They seems quite eager to shift the meta around rather than have multiple team comps as 'meta'. For example their solution to triple tank was push dive comp. Now dive comp is prevalent they'll drop it for another meta no doubt. It would be better if they balanced around multiple play-styles being viable at once.

But for your average Overwatch normie, they have no fucking clue what they've done wrong because literally all of the things their character can do are done with the press of a single button. If they hit all their buttons, that's "all they could do." So they rage and leave games and stupid shit like that.

Blizzard have engineered a game scientifically perfected to make people blame everything but themselves for their mistakes.

I was gifted overwatch, so i don't have a buyers remorse about it. The problem with it is that it's basically, in regards to gameplay, an afternoon beer. You come home from a hard days work, you crack open a bear, sit down, have a sip and just laze away, you feel good about yourself. Overwatch is basically the same thing, you come home, get a quick game going, play for a bit, press Q, get some kills or whatever and feel good about yourself. That's basically it, because even if you lose, you see that you at least did good at that moment, so it feels good for what it is. Most of the classes basically have a dedicated "press to be cool" button.

And the game sucks in many departments. The graphics are okayish, but there's too many effects and the screen is crowded with them, so it's not readable that much. The fov is too small for a comp game, the maps devolve into chokepoints, character backstories are stereotypical and downright infantile in some cases(Orisa), with balance forcing a stagnant meta. The story is a generic sci-fi good guys/bad guys/robots thing,the development is stagnant, the developer is going for a cash grab(loot boxes) and wants to cater to everyone ever, especially people offended by something in the game. The only unquestioningly good thing in this game is sound design, enviroment design, and porn.

I'm not referring to the active playercount, or the microtransactions that shattered the integrity of TF2's gameplay, although Overwatch is mimicing it a bit with the oversaturation of niche purpose heroes instead of merging ideas every now and then.
I'm referring to the community stagnating into tryhard, meta-tactic, no-fun boredom, and the memes have been run into the ground long ago.
It has tight as fuck and entertaining gameplay, but it demands teamwork so much it eclipses any sort of individual skill, and nobody works as a team without sacrificing the very concept of fun to achieve SR gain.

Because he either kills more than half the roster with 200+ reliable burst damage or he doesn't. They tried pulling levers on his reliability by changing his hook but it just made people on both sides mad because of edge cases where you either get pulled when you shouldnt or dont get pulled when you should.

Honestly what they should be doing is playing around more with base health. Healers should start at 150 base health unless they have a good reason to need more (lucio and maybe zen should have 200), torb should have way more base health than 200 (just give him 75 healable armor and make it so that armor packs only refill his armor instead of adding +75 bonus), genji probably deserves something like 175 or maybe even 150 health, and so does widow. Roadhog shouldn't be one-shotting primary DPS like mccree or soldier but he absolutely should be one-shotting more than just tracer.

The game is fun, but I find myself getting burnt out ultra fast compared to my tf2 days

My main gripe outside of just getting burnt out would be that only pharah and soldier feel meaty in their damage output.
It's not fun dancing around tanks and healers as non burst/sustained damage dealing heroes.

They pick healers, then never heal. They pick Rein, and drop the shield constantly. They pick Soldier or McCree but never shoot anything. They pick D.Va or Roadhog and just fuck everything they do up no matter what it is.

Hell, these stupid fucking cunts can't even understand the gamemode as a concept. "I need to stand in this circle? Whys that?" "I need to push this payload thing? Why's that?" "I need to take out the enemy team before rushing in? Why's that?" These fucking people are retarded on a basic level I literally do not even know how they remember to breath.

I used to like the game, but now I just hate it. I can't stand to play it for more than 3 minutes because of the amount of retarded shit I see happen over and over. I quit 4+ month ago.

The thing that kills me is that they went for the safest route and instead of having Tracer lesbo it up with another female character we already know, we get a random "literally who" OC donut steal, and are just told "they're gay, live with it".

Hell, even the new "line" about Emily in Overwatch isn't really that fancy, with Tracer just wondering if she has enough time to visit Emily. It just reeks of a publicity stunt that they don't want to fall back on.

That said, I do want the gay hero to be Junkrat with Roadhog.

I got bored, I was sceptical about how Blizzard would handle it's first FPS I was very right to be concerned. Maps are Garbage, less then half the characters are good at high levels, to many bs abilities, and the worst balance changes I've seen.
I've moved on to Siege, and occasionally I'll play some TF2 again.
If there's one thing I can thank OW for its for making me appreciate good game design.

I was grandmaster before I quit and he's not exactly wrong. The game mode that played any differently was KoTH, and even that was a slight variation of try to peek shots to charge ult so we can storm it with ult combos.

Game got super boring and most people I used to play with at high ranks quit the game for other stuff.

Despite trying to mimic other games of the same genre, such as TF2, it fails to improve in any substantial way. You could argue graphics, but TF2 is 9 years older, and improvement in graphics is pretty much mandatory.

As a game it is a lot more shallow, as the entire game revolves around abilities that function on a cool down system, which are out of the players control, essentially boiling down the gameplay to waiting until a special ability is available for use in order to make vital pushes within matches.

Not to mention the fact that the game was designed to be appealing to the most amount of people possible in order to maximise sales. Pure lowest common denominator.
