Just finished Crash 2 in the remaster collection. I have no nostalgia for Crash games, this remaster is the first time I'm playing them. After getting the Platinum trophy for Crash 1 and having tons of fun while doing it, I gotta say I was a bit disappointed with Crash 2. Yes, the new moves they introduced are great and I still had a great time with the game, but I had more fun with the first one. It seems Crash 2 has more bullshit things that can kill you or slow you down (electric pads, bees, electric panels, nitro boxes, slippery ice, ice spikes and wall stompers), while the first game simply has some harder platforming segments that keep you on your toe. The bosses were extremely easy, the Cortex fight ended in less than 20 seconds... I honestly thought it was just the first phase. The introduction of warp rooms instead of the overworld was also really sad in my opinion.
Anyone else shares this sentiment? Maybe I was caught in the hype, since people kept saying Crash 2 was so much better than 1.

I'm sort of in the same boat, only had Crash 3 as a kid. Crash 2 is fun but there are a few things I could do without, such as the fucking atrocious ice physics, clunky jet pack levels, and being forced to walk back a split pathway in order to break all the boxes.

People generally enjoy it more since it's easier. I agree with you entirely, and really only like crash 1, 2 and 3 just feel like I'm going with the motions.

Got all the gems in 2 earlier today and I kind of agree. 2 is generally an improvement but Ifind its obnoxious parts to be rather obnoxious whereas Crash 1 never really gets annoying, just decently tough. Like, I honestly had more fun getting the Slippery Climb gem than the Cold Hard Crash one, and I can't think of a single level in Crash 1 as egregiously, offensively bad as Totally Bear. And don't even get me started on those jetpack levels - hated the controls in the original and I still hate them now. I dunno, Crash 2 just really gets on my nerves sometimes, I wanted to put the controller down with it more often than with 1. At least when 1 kicked my ass I always wanted to give it another try.
