As far as just combos go, Tekken is low-IQ. Combos in Tekken are literally launcher -> guaranteed combo. The wall adds some variation but that doesn't take long to work out. At least Smash/Street Fighter has percentage-dependent and distance-dependent links receptively.

They added mechanics but made the game simpler in other ways (like throw teching). It still plays just about the same, same movelists with minor tweaks... even many of the combos are just as they were in Tag 2. SFV plays nothing like USFIV.
