Hey /v/,

Buying anew gaming PC, unfortunately due to the fact I have to pay monthly I will be ordering from dell/alienware.

I've been out of the hardware scene for a long time, and I'm just trying to decide between getting a I7 7700k, 16gb, gtx 1080 for $66/mo or with a 580 for $54/mo, or get a Ryzen 7 1700X, 32gb, and a 580 for $57 a month.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

also Nvidia vs AMD thread. ALSO IIDX thread.

(Dude, you're getting a Dell.)
>>
IIDX is pretty cool but I'm not sure what that has to do with anything else in your post
>>
>>382934576
Nothing really, I just wanted to give this thread substance beyond my question. IIDX is pretty cool, indeed.

If someone would answer my question, though, I would be forever grateful.

>580
If you meant 980, then either is fine.
Unless you plan on doing other workstation stuff stick with intel. Ryzen is better for CERTAIN multicore workloads and if you don't understand the implications of that you don't need it.

>mfw 7th Dan never ever
The Safari is really the only barrier there and it's pretty easy to mash once you learn how, just practice it on its own
>>
>>382935107
A few reviews/benchmarks I've read have placed the 1800X in-between the 7700k and 6900.

And no, I mean't AMD 580.

I guess another thing I want to know is: With the Ryzen platform, I've heard 1) It scales performance with RAM, more high speed RAM = faster processing. 2) It's supposed to get better with time as they work out driver/software kinks. 3) More games are getting to be optimized for higher core counts. Going forward, what will last longer? A 7700k or a 1700X?
>>
What are peoples favorite IIDX entry? I think mine uld have to be Happy Sky (I know i'll get a little flak for this)

Why do you have to pay monthly?
>>
>>382936178
Because I don't have a huge chunk of cash saved up, but I can afford to pay monthly.
>>
>>382936291
Then put some money aside yourself every month and build your own.
>>
>>382936291
Poor life decisions
>>
>>382935610
AMD 580 should be enough unless you really care about maxing out modern AAA games, have a high refresh rate monitor, or want to get into VR. If all 3, then you actually do need the 1080.
From what I've heard about Ryzen, the RAM scaling thing is true, but Claim 3 is a wildcard. Modern consoles have 8 threads across 8 AMD cores, but i7s have 8 threads across 4 cores. Whether or not this design works out fine or becomes an achilles heel comes down to lower level software behaviors that I don't think you can predict. /g/ would know more about this, if they still let you ask questions like that. Intel still has better per-core performance though, so as soon as they respond with a true 8-core consumer product that advantage goes out the window.

>>382936291
If you're even more patient you may as well part the build out and buy the pieces one by one. You're basically saving money by spending time instead, learning how to DIY it.

>>382935801
Spada, only because it was my first. Also Nekomata.
>>
>>382936508
>>382936492

No, and no.

I'd rather pay monthly, and I never made the decision to be disabled and unable to work, my body did that for me.

Also it's a gift from my mom.
>>
>>382936710

I can DIY it already, I have the technical ability and know how, I've just been out of monitoring what tech is good for awhile.

If it were me paying for it, I would save up and do that, but it's a present.

I guess another reason to get the 1080 over the 580 is future proofing, but it is pretty expensive. Luckily Dell is having a sale right now in Canada, so I get $950 off a $3000 machine (Obviously overpriced, but still)

I had meant to say, the PC is a gift from my mom. But yeah, I guess the genes are too.
>>

Debt for electronics?
fucking americans, they love their credit cards
>>
>>382938194
Like you've never received a gift before.

>>382937889
Not really. I'm doing something I can afford vs something I can't. It's extremely hard to save up on disability ($1150 a month), but that's beside the point I suppose since it's a gift.
>>
>>382942354
I'm a Canadian.

We no longer have bags of milk.
>>
>>382938194
Just because your mother doesn't love you enough and you never do anything to deserve a gift doesn't mean others are like that. You don't need to be this bitter.
>>
>>382942417
>>382942521
I would never want someone to put themselves in debt to give me a present I don't actually need. But maybe that's just me.
>>
>>382942791

>In debt
>Don't actually need

These are relative to a persons life circumstances. You're right, that's just you.

My mom will not be going into debt, as she can afford it, because she has a good job. More than that she offered, I'm not putting anyone out of anything.

Also I do need a new computer because I often try to look for, and have worked for jobs from home in the past, but this shitty laptop from 2009 is not good enough to even run software for jobs.
>>
>>382943076
You don't need a GTX1080.
>>
>>382942791
nigga, just shut the fuck up and accept the gift. My mom gives me money all the time without me asking. Sorry you have a shit mom
>>
>>382943632
Underage pls leave
>>
>>382943892
My mom gives me money sometimes too, why would someone have to be underage for this to be the case? Sorry your parents don't love you.
>>
Came for the Tricoro pic.

Aesthetics:
1. Pendual
2. Empress
3. Gold

Song List:
1. HS
2. 10th
3. 6th

Newer styles have plenty of good songs, but I'm hesitant to place Sinobuz in either ranking without it feeling like I've had enough time to really evaluate it the full way. I tried to base my choices on which ones I feel have the highest count of good songs and fewest stinkers.
>>
>>382943481
Maybe not, but it's kinda moot since it's a gift offered to me and my mom can afford it.
>>
>>382944671
Make it make money, IID GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD

All I have around me is DistorteD and Tricoro.
>>
>>382939909
IIDX makes all other music games (and hell, most other video games in general) redundant. As far as music games specifically go, if it's not keysounded, it's trash. No connection to the music makes the entire exercise pointless busywork.
>>
>>382944849
I would have liked to try Tricoro in a cabinet, but it was in that long period of never having an arcade with a machine around me. All I've had were the PS2 games and sims until R1 came with Pendual.

Why are you like this?
>>
>>382946659
Can you give me reasoning?
>>
Does getting an actual IIDX controller help in playing more difficult songs? I can't get past any level 7 songs right now in LR2 with my mechanical keyboard.
>>
>>382947048

The ryzen is better at everything else thats not gaming while being only slightly behind the 7700k in gaming.

Overall a much more well rounded CPU, it also wont burn your house down.

The GTX 1080 is good.
>>
>>382933004
it really depends on what resolution/framerate you're aiming for. The gtx 1080 is a higher end, ~$600 graphics card made for 1440p/4k resolution. The rx 580, on the other hand, is a ~$250 midrange card made almost exclusively for 1080p. The cards are not directly comparable, as they're in completely different tiers

what monitor(s) do you plan on using?
>>
>>382947508
Just an old 24 inch westinghouse that I have, it's has lines but they go away after it warms up.

I'll have to buy a new monitor later, but when I do I may end up buying a 4k monitor.
>>382947230
Keep in mind that Dell does not offer the 1800x, only the 1700x. Where does this fall?
>>
>>382944930
I wouldn't go that far. Pop'n and DDR differentiate themselves by making you use different parts of your body (arms and legs, respectively). IIDX is mostly just finger movements. I think all 3 provide a unique enough experience and are worth playing.
>>
>>382947991

The 1800x/1700x/1700 are pretty much the same, the only difference is that the most expensive ones can reach marginally higher overclocks.

You'll be good with any of those three
>>
>>382947991
if you do plan on playing on a resolution above 1080p, then I would definitely recommend going for the gtx 1080. If you stay at 1080p, the gtx 1080 is complete overkill
>>
>>382947167
I don't think it would make things any easier, because with the actual controller you have to worry about turntable scratching and finger placement on an arbitrary layout. Most of the highest end BMS players use keyboards instead of a controller. In general, I've read most people who make the switch take an initial hit until they get acclimated to the controller and then make progress.
>>382948045
My perspective is just that "in a world where IIDX exists, why would I play [Popn]?", and to that question I don't have a good answer.

Then why is she doing a monthly plan?

Why the fuck are ya'll replying to this nigger
>>
>>382939909
I don't understand how people get so into Sound Voltex, getting up to 14s is easy as hell and everything past that revolves around a lot of memorization
The timing windows are way too big and the play feels robotic with super low variety in hand positions and methods of hitting things
>>
>>382937264
>Wanting future proofing
>4 core CPU

When i built my pc i opened an amazon card and ordered all my parts off amazon. No interest for a year.
