Not on my machine. Spacebar is the jump button for other classes, but for Fencer it does the weapon's special action. If you don't have a machine gun equipped, you don't get a jump.

let me guess, you just went in Single Player on Easy/Normal and expected the game to be challenging? clearly you haven't played Inferno - missions are much more dynamic, one minute you're winning, next one you're rushed by hundreds of new enemies, never boring, especially with 3 friends

The only one with somewhat boring movement is Ranger (rolling everywhere) - with WD you are supposed to fly closely to the enemies, dodging attacks and attacking in close range, with AR you are not even supposed to walk - you call in a tank/railgun/heli/giant robots/whatever else you need and use that to move around.
And Fencer is most mobile and fastest of all characters - when played correctly (dash cancelling, javelin skiting). And most fun to play too.

Fencers get goddamn Javelin catapult which makes them hilariously overpowered when it comes to moving around.

If you don't have JC yet then you can also dash cancel with Shield, but it's a bit harder to pull off as you have to actively cancel each dash. For example, shield in left hand, melee weapon in right hand
R1 (dash) > L2 (shield bash) > R1 > L2 > R1 > L2

with JC all you would have to do is hold L2 and press R1 continously

First JC I think is level 14, last is Twin JC at ~54

Fencer has a normal jump of similar height to air raider or ranger.

If you're new to the genre, always start with middle difficulty. In EDF you have:
>Easy > Normal > Hard > Hardest > Inferno
notice how middle one is Hard not Normal

This may be confusing, I think less people would make the mistake of playing on Normal if they named them
