How can normies be entertained by such mediocre games? Has anyone seen a normie playing these?
>>
>>382882476
>mediocre

There's that word again.

Just say they're bad. You wouldn't be wrong.
>>
>>382882617
Mediocre isn't the same thing as bad, and calling them bad would be wrong
>>

I recently bought TLoU's expansion for the first time since it was like what, 3 bucks? I really, really enjoyed the world building, lore and the characters but I'd agree it needs more gameplay. Gameplay is good but it was scattered around for the expansion.

Vanilla game and U4 on the other hand are amazing. My favorite thing to do in vidyas are to explore ancient ruins though, so this might be the reason why I love these games but still they both are GOTY for me.
>>
The Last of Us is actually solid as fuck
>>
>>382882964
Stop going against the circlejerk please. Call them movie games and be done with it.
>>
>>382882476
uncharted 4 is pretty good when it has gameplay

last of us on the otherhand is pretty much meme cinematic game
>>
>>382882964
I also enjoyed U4. Who doesn't want to be Indie?
>>
>>382882617
>There's that word again.
That's the buzzword faggots use when they want to shit on something hard but can't come up with actual plausible reasons.
>>
>>382882476
i bet you like persona 5

If you don't like linear games then just don't fucking play them you fucking idiot.
>>
>>382883048
But anon, there is nothing debatable about U4. It has TONS of gameplay. TLoU has too, but you might argue about it. You'd be wrong, but you could argue.

Yet only one of these games is considered a 'movie game', interesting.
>>
Both games have great gameplay but there isn't enough of it. Uncharted 4 in particular is like 60% walky talky boring shit

If they have tons of gameplay why no one ever discuss them?

Even Senran Kagura thread have gameplay discussion from time to time, but these games have none. Is it because they really have less gameplay than a titty game?
>>
>>382882476
Yeah Normies play it. U4 has beautiful vistas, treasure hunting and fun gunplay with stealth that's the best it's ever been in the series. Multiplayer got a lot better after they added a classic mode and survival. TLOU has a darker story with the first thing to happen be your daughter dying, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Spooky fungus among us, situations with low ammo and resources forcing you to scrape by some stressful encounters, and your run of the mill stealth and 3rd person gunplay. Multiplayer was awesome. What more could a normie want?
>>
>>382882476
Normies dont like video games
They like movies that dont let them lose

The faster you learn this, the more everything will make sense
>>
>>382883337
1. Xenoblade is far longer than U4
2.U4 is called a movie game because of ingame sequences where you lack real control besides "hold the stick down" or "move here and press a for a cutscene"
3. U4 unabashedly frames itself as a cinematic experience
4. U4 lacks any depth in it's game play and can be completed by a brain dead monkey, meaning you can coast through the game "like a movie", xenoblade at least forces some engagement with it's systems
>>
>>382883259
/v/ doesn't care about objective facts. They just like to sound like one another reusing the same buzzwords and spewing the same memes all the time, "hur durr movie game press X to win"
>>
>>382883374
Those slow parts where you have to just king of walk around and look at stuff really kills the replayability of games like this. One scene in particular that I'm thinking of is the flashback bit where Nate and his brother as kids break into that old lady's house.

I remember being excited for LoU thinking it was going to be so much more, remember the first vid we had at that one e3?

Then they just got lazy and went the Uncharted route, wouldn't be surprised if they just copy pasted the code Ubisoft style.
>>
>>382882476
I guess I'm a normie because I enjoyed both these games quite a bit.
>>
>>382883552
I wonder if ND is aware of how much SFM porn exists of Sarah.

>the first thing to happen be your daughter dying

It's hilarious how SJWs praise TLoU for its story when this is one of the first things you're not supposed to do if you want to avoid a cheap and cliched story.
>>
>>382882476
To be honest, I liked the game alot, not because of gameplay, but moreso because of the characters and their stories. I felt really attached to Joel and Ellie as I played and the game had some really emotional moments that really got to me. So what if it was a "movie game", it was a damn good one.
>>
>>382883718
it was obvious from day one it was just more generic zombie survival tropes
>>
>>382883645
Have you played uncharted on some harder difficulties? Playing on normal is the casual movie experience you talk about. Some sequences require thoughts and planning, with a lot more freedom as far as taking enemies down go.
>>
>>382882476
I've only seen one person play Last of Us and he's a huge weaboo with a bunch of miku figurines and a k-on bedsheet acting as a curtain
>>
>>382883816
Yeah but the difference between Tlou's story and other stories is that rather than showing the grieving process it skips right through it.
>>
>>382884026
>k-on bedsheet acting as a curtain
Any idea where he got it?
>>
>>382883816
According to who? I think it worked for what they were trying to accomplish with Ellie. Felt more like a real story in that sense, aside from the immersion breaking army of one vs the world.
>>
>>382882476
>Anyone who plays this is a normie

Your opinion is just that. Not every game has to be the same or even revolutionary.
>>
>>382883109
This. They seem to think it gives them authority. Imagine them using it in their day to day lives
>hey anon, wanna come see "x" movie with me?
>im afraid not kate, it's rather mediocre you see
>o-oh ok...
>>
>>382883670
At a risk of sounding like many others on /v/ and using words that they often do: "this."
>>
>>382884071
This exactly. We just see gruff Joe who doesn't really give a shit about things anymore. He's distant and hesitant to get close to Ellie at all cause he doesn't want to catch feelings.
>>
>>382882476
yeah my normie 'friend' constantly plays these two plus GTA Online. He says they're amazing games but can't give a reason other than graphics and the explosions are cool. He doesn't even know what 60 fps is would glady pick a 30fps mode if it meant better graphics.
>>
>>382883816
The daughter dying isn't used the same way it's conventionally used in these types of stories. It's a setup for the parallels between Ellie and Sarah, and creates context for the conclusion in which Joel chooses his surrogate over the world.
>>
>>382883674
Can't argue with that. Especially since I searched up and down every room in the house for treasures and Easter eggs, I wouldn't want to bother doing it again.
>>
>>382883718
I thought it was a refreshibf step away from uncharted. U4 actually took a lot of notes from TLOU

how can /v/ be entertained by such shitty games?
>>
>>382884486
You must not have been listening to him very well, because outside of the opening sequence The Last of Us isn't very bombastic and is relatively low-key.
>>
>>382884747
he wasn't necessarily referring to TLOU about the explosions
>>
>>382882476
I can't dislike this game. It made me tear up atleast twice in my first playthrough.
>>
>>382884486
Yeah, it's called not being a cynical prick.
>>
>>382883770
If they don't acknowledge it, it will never exist to them
>>
>>382884924
Exactly, he actually enjoys video games rather than go on taiwanese message boards to shit on popular games with other autists.
