The controls are obtuse on purpose, you need to learn to work with them to actually get good at the combat.

I'm not sure what issue you have with the VA but even at it's worst it's passable.

What do you mean by exploration? There's a ton of shit to find especially when you start doing the witcher school scavenger hunts, which you basically have to do to get the best gear in the game.

on your role playing point, sure, it's not fallout 1, or anything like that. But your choices do impact a decent amount, I guess I'd say it's about as much of an RPG as something like mass effect is. Only without the forced moral system.

Quests, well, you're a monster hunter, that's your job. Of course the quests are going to focus around hunting monsters, the charm of the game comes from how each quest is at least a bit unique, you don't have a quest-line where you kill 5 foglets in a row or some bullshit like that.

I dunno man, for my money, W3 is probably the best open world game I've played and I put at least 400 hours into it so far. But if you don't like the game man then don't play it.

there's no accounting for taste, it's okay not to like something. Doesn't mean it's bad, just means it's not for you.

10 hours doesn't even get you out of the starting area.

Then the game might not be for you. The combat is designed for you to have good timing, you are meant to feel heavy, making a choice like going one direction or another, or dodging, has consequences, you have to learn to make your actions count, this is not a hack and slash. It's a skill based combat system.

You can also try to enable the "alternative movement response" in the options, that makes movement work a bit differently and you might enjoy it more.

The first area is the smallest in the entire game, just do the story until more of the map opens up.

Look man, if you don't like the game, that's fine, but what I'm explaining to you is that your complaints sound like you're frustrated that the game is challenging you in a way you're not used to.I beat the game on death march recently and once you learn how the combat works it's really not that hard. Just use Quen as often as you can for now and learn when to dodge. You can't just hack your way through everything, they hit just as hard as you do. You need to dodge, wait for an opportunity, and then strike when the time is right. You don't just get to swing your sword like a fucking retard and win every fight.

What really made me pissy about 3 compared to 2 is the extreme reliance on health sponges (which I assume is in part to the open world RPG design aspect) but that was never a deal in 2 and it focused more on unique enemies. Geralt vs Letho was a fucking awesome boss fight, fighting the Wild Hunt in 3 wasn't nearly as good. Wish I could pinpoint why, aside from a story perspective.

My favorite was the Redanian troll who used the boats to build a defensive fence and asks for paint to draw the coat of arms. If you let him paint it, it turns out 10000000x better than if Geralt does it.

I actually never let him paint it, I'll have to do that on this play-through I just started. After doing my first death march play-through all I can say is that the start of NG+is frigging tough. It probably doesn't help that I bet it at like level 30 though. (I was so interested in the story my first time I couldn't help but rush through it)
