A heavily overrated but still pretty good RPG. The combat in the game is quite dull and some things get repetitive very quickly (such as closing Oblivion Gates or exploring optional dungeons that are all just identical gray tunnels with no variety) but the world is big, the guild side quests are fun and the game has a lot of content in general if you're willing to look around everywhere and talk to everyone. Soon enough you'll be drowning in different quest lines and the game will keep you occupied for a long time. Also, the game is infamous for its awful voice acting, be prepared for that too.

So I was just >>382836927 there and somebody said they were going to have a look at my load order for me. Re-posting in case anybody else can help identify the problem. My game crashes after a few seconds of leaving this dungeon I'm stuck in, there shouldn't be anything outside the dungeon causing the crash as I walked from Anvil to this dungeon without issue. I've cleared this place out but can't leave. Outside of this issue I've got some weird thing going on with the UI where the HUD isn't full size, but is seemingly focusing on a much smaller screen space. All these issues started occurring when I switched GPUs, I didn't do shit to the game files, I had it running perfectly too.

you're going to hear a lot about a "level scaling problem". the easiest way to counter this is to only make one combat skill a major skill so it raises very quickly because by the time you reach level 6 enemies are going to be badass motherfuckers.

Fun game to play like a dungeon crawler, quests are okay, with the guild quests being top (except Fighter's Guild)

Also expect to be doing the same damage the entire time, with enemies being as strong/stronger than you every time you level up.

I used BOSS to sort my load order while doing it, I also followed a guide for my installer and to learn Wyre Bash. It's just a lot of work to go back and sort it again after all this. Do you have a good modded version of Oblivion? It's the one TES game I've never done a proper modded play through of.

Questlines are great. Exploration is shit.

Don't run around exploring like Skyrim. You'll have a lot more fun if you just do the faction questlines, dlc's, and main quest. Daedric quests have level requirements, so don't go exploring for them. Look up the requirements and where they're located when you want to do them.

There's only a couple of Oblivion gate layouts, so they can get really repetitive. I would just do maybe one or two to experience them, and then save it for quests that require you to go in them.

The dungeons are really repetitive. Like I said earlier, don't just run around exploring, looting every cave and ruin you see. This isn't Skyrim, you'll get bored quickly.

If you're willing to learn about modding and download mods, definitely yes. A ton of mods and other miscellaneous addons can improve the Oblivion experience tenfold.

However, if you're not really patient or willing to delve into that stuff, then maybe. There's still some easy to install mods that can improve stability and gameplay.

Either way, you should get the Knights of The Nine and Shivering Isles DLCs. KoTN is okay, Shivering Isles is great.

I think DarnUI and Unofficial Patch is essantial. If your system is good install retexture mods. I also intalled Character Overhaul because i couldn't stand default ones. I recommend you to start with minimum mods and if you need anything in the game, just search for mod and install it, because there is probably a mod for your every need.
