My coworker actually gave me her old Dell that stopped working that has a tri-core AMD CPU and 8GB of RAM, and I'm going to stick it in a new case with a bigger power supply and stick a 9800GT in it. Should make for a good emulator box. Not as quiet or small as a Pi but should be more powerful and able to handle 5th gen better and maybe even 6th gen, I'll see once I get it running.

Right now they want to wait until 2019 for a raspberry Pi 4 release.

Also the Pi 3 is 1.2ghz, and even arm boards in this class that run 2ghz don't emulate dreamcast at quite fullspeed, and that's using an emulator for speed instead of accuracy.

And even if a cheap board with something like 2.6ghz showed up, it doesn't have the ecosystem and install base of the Pi so no one is rushing to develop their shit to be compatible for it.

It's been tested and it's 2 frames slower than emulation on a PC, 1 frame slower if you use the right driver. If you follow a guide you might be able to get it lower, haven't seen it tested after that though.

The bigger problem is the Pi is typically used with TVs instead of monitors. A lot of them are slow as fuck no matter what you turn off.
