You watch the damn videos on the youtubes so you know what to do in your role. It's the reason why I stopped playing FFXIV since I could be playing better games than sitting through a half hour video for each group boss needed to advance the story, and then to get better gear.

I got Insurgency and liked to play the VIP escort mode. At some point I got VIP for the first time but didnt realize because it doesnt say anything except change your gun to the pistol. I played like normal and got killed really quickly and some guy literally said really quickly

What casual shit are you playing that that's possible? Even as a talented person you'd be lucky to make it to the top 10% in Starcraft in a couple of months. Getting to the top 1% of above usually takes people anywhere between 10-20k games, so roughly 40 games a day if you want to do it in a year. Also there is no guarantee that you'll get that far even after playing that many games, there are tons of players with tens of thousands of games who are still stuck in shitter leagues.

I remember playing splinter cell on Xbox and using Xbox live for the first time. I joined a game and this guy just kept saying hello increasingly loud and it startled me so I turned the tv off

it helps that i tend to start playing the same time as everyone else, and i'm a crazy fast learner. it doesn't take me long to rise up above the plebes and then maintain that position as people get better

it also helps that i'm good at reading people and my surroundings on top of my game sense regardless of the game i'm playing, so all my skills translate to other games pretty well. it's easy for me to read other people in mindgamey fighting games and stuff.

i tend to do much worse in games that emphasize mechanics and learning things by rote. and i tend to get eclipsed by actual super tryhards eventually, either because i'm really impatient and get bored easily, or because i'm just not that good.

It's easy to understand that there is a VIP and that he must (/not) die but when you actually are the VIP there's no message so it looks like a glitch where you forgot to pick your gun and are stuck with a pistol. I feel games should explain themselves without having to read a wiki for 15 minutes unless you want absolute certainty over certain details.
