I will say that for the most part, the jumping in Crash 1 is OK and can be worked around (Just beat it this morning).

The only exceptions are the two bridge levels that were pretty much designed around exploiting the original's jumping physics. While it was still a pain in the ass in the originals, it is do-able and left some room for error. Now? It feels like everything is pixel perfect.

I do hope they address it in patches, since his current movement in Crash 1 really makes me not want to attempt 100% it.

Jumping is completely fine, the fall animation just starts faster which makes people think it's more unfair than the original.

Turtle momentum is the only thing that needs to be patched in 1 and i haven't found a single issue in two.

They really fucked up hard with the collision detection on just about everything, I've noticed it in all 3 games in the remaster. I still had fun with it but if I ever want to replay these games I'm definitely just going to play the originals (emulated or on-disc) instead of these "remasters".

A remake can be identical or different.
The remake of Psycho was shot for shot the same as the original.
But a remake like The Fly is vastly different plot wise.
The only requirement of a remake is that it is being re-made.

A remaster is redistributing the original at better quality.
This can be by using the master recording (source code for games I guess) or by reverse engineering a lesser distribution.
Literally the only reason they labelled this trilogy a "remaster" is because that's the trendy phrase that Sony has been using since last gen.
Kind of like how every movie remake is being called a "reboot" now to give the impression there's going to be some epic cinematic universe and they're serious about it THIS time.

I wish I had the source but I remember reading somerhing about VV changing stuff slightly on purpose because they wanted even older players to have a new experience with the games.
