It was 2, it is badly optimized for some toasters, even though playing through a Dreamcast emulator provides better results.

The old PC release was a bit buggy as far as I remember. First encounter with Millenia crashed my game several times. Also, no dual audio.

Now playing the anniversary version and not having any problems.

If you stacked speed on her and spammed her lotus flower attack, you could pretty much make sure no enemy ever attacked again, provided you keep her MP replenished.

Grandia 2 was my first jrpg, and the first game to make it upset it was over. Great times, wish we could get more out of the series than 2 games though.

Steam version is perfect right now, they released a bunch of patches and the game is perfectly playable now.

When the Steam version came out, it was a fucking mess, even worse than the old Ubisoft PC version. I didn't wait and finished the game playing like that, sometimes spells took 1 minute because of all the video lag and the game was full of random bugs.
But like I said, I believe everything is fixed now.

3 and Xtreme being bad is a meme, they're both good and possibly even great

Just, they don't have THE spark that made 1 & 2 fantastic for their time, but they're still decent and enjoyable games in their own right
I actually unironically really like Xtreme for its refinement of the battle system- yeah, the plot was nothing special, and the dub next-level hilariously bad, but it's a lot of fun

I guess it's time to listen the ost again.

Currently playing through Grandia 1, considering I was a big fan of 2 I decided to finally play the first one recently.

So far my impression is that Grandia 2 is better in every front though Grandia 1 has very endearing and cute characters, it's a silly game and charming in that respect, but Grandia 2 is much more accessible. Like they threw you in a fairly large city in Grandia 1, and you'd spend some time fetching stuff and reading dialogue before you got a taste of the combat, and even after you get passed the first city there is still quite a big of reading to do. I feel like they didn't pace this correctly and basically fixed it in Grandia 2 by finding an optimal reading/fighting pace.

Feels like the developers messed up on the difficulty of both games though, as they are both very very easy. At least so far in Grandia 1... I currently just got done with the beast-man village. I do enjoy Grandia 1 though, but so far, I think the devs really fixed all my criticisms in Grandia 2.

Also wtf is with the devs giving me a character level 30, when my guys are around level 13? They really didn't want this game to be a challenge... I hope and suspect this character gets taken away soon.
