It's a free OS that can run many scientific and engineering programs, which already makes it superior to Windows when it comes to both work and study. Personally, I have a dedicated gaming rig that uses Win10 for vidya gaems and a laptop with Ubuntu that I use for Computational Mechanics projects where I run programs like FEAPPv, ANSYS and even fucking MATLAB. Why not install Win10 on the laptop as well you might ask? Because Ubuntu is fucking free, that's why.
