Guns would make the game easier anyway threat wise. Honestly they should just make better threats since all life forms in the game are borderline harmless once you get a prawn suit. Like the biggest threats are reapers and warpers with the prawn suit but even reapers don't do much and warpers are nulled once you get a cyclops.

I mean spears fit the theming but you have to ask what you want them to do. Killing big shit is a no no since that removes the sense of danger permanently(as would causing them to fuck off if it worked 100% of the time). If used for hunting small fish we already have a lot of options and hitting something small would be a bitch.
