I loved it, even though I sucked dick. I remember I could never get past the snow area, because my young brain simply couldn't comprehend how the helicopter thing worked. I also had no memory cards ("Just right down your scores"-mom), so I got really good at speed running the first chunk of the game until the helicopter brought me to tears.

On the bright side, Japn Studio is planning on making a lot of new titles, some being sequels.
So who knows if they learned their lesson.
