The DS game was kludged together, it didn't give you the same kind of feeling if adventure because the plot got sidetracked so quickly, in general things felt slapped together.

The second party of 4 was also a mistake for what was supposed to be the first game in a duology, but also keep in mind the two GBA golden sun games were meant to be one 1 cart and they just barely didn't have room. They didn't have that issue with the DS even though splitting them would have made for a better series.

We did get cutest wind adept though.

Would Dark Dawn have been well received if it took play in an all new universe with borrowed elements from the first two games? Granted I only ever played the first two games, but I'd think things wrapped up pretty nicely not to need a reason for a sequel. I feel the same thing about Baten Kaitos, I'd like there to be a sequel but I sure as hell don't want it to be involved with Eternal Wings and Origins.

As far as reviews go, TLA was much longer and more difficult compared to 1.
Also, people probably didn't like not playing as Isaac. As for sales, the games just didn't get promoted much. The commercials were really bad.
