PSO as a "this affix weapon spends money for special attack power"
Many final fantasies let you throw money as a powered attack.
Later Fallouts can use bottlecaps up in special mine types for shrapnel.

currency is an important crafting resource. You use the currency to purchase the materials that you craft with.
The end result is still the removal of currency from your possession with the intended result of manufacturing an object.
You are literally only complaining about the middle-man.
>>382633026
> upgraded ammo can only be purchased through spending RL currency.

Gold and silver were almost completely useless for tools and weapons dumbass. They break or melt to easily. That was what Bronze, Iron and Steel were used for.
Anything that a game would have you craft (mostly weapons and armor) makes no fucking sense with your analogy. Just like Souls/Essence/whatever other bullshit, makes no fucking sense.
>>382635419
Not really. Because in most of these games there are ways to get resources from hard work or exploration without currency. So it's makes everything too dumbed down and boring when you just tie everything to some "almighty" currency.

>Gold and silver were almost completely useless for tools
yet they were extremely important for tool components, such as gears
soft metals have their advantages, in fine detail, giving way, interaction with other materials without damaging them, and so on
conductivity is cool too
