He's a mailman who thinks his opinions are worth jack shit, and he never became more than that unlike the courier who is no longer technically a mailman and is by that point either someone faction's champion or has crushed all his opposition. I've never been more disappointed in my life confronting him after all that build up and getting all that pseudo intellectual wank instead of something worth my time.

He was a man who saw everything he knew destroyed for no fucking reason(with the Legion) and tried to cope by making up reasons for it. He became obsessed with symbolism and meaning where there were none.


He eventually found a new symbol in a burgeoning community that was destroyed through sheer coincidence. He couldn't accept that, so he becomes obsessed with you.

But I didn't understand SHIT.

Kreia was hard to understand the point she was trying to make sometimes, maybe the cut content made it worse, but this guy goes way beyond.

Chris Avellone is one of my favourite writers, but when he writes the dialog of characters that are suppouse to indicates what he really thinks about the game-world, it seems that he does so while high or something.

I think he works better as a character if you just think of him as a crazy person blaming you for literally nothing, he just happens to be a very strong crazy person.

You were the only courier willing to walk the path to the divide, whether it was just a job or you cared for the place is up to you. Without you it wouldn't have started to thrive as it did.

Ulysses started to see the place as a home, then the NCR were about to annex the place and the legion invade it. Before Ulysses stepped in you dropped off the package that had ed-e, who when powered up activated most of the nukes under the ground, killing everyone save for Ulysses, who was saved by the medical eyebots due to the american flag on his back and you, who had already left beforehand.

Ulysses has a obsession with symbolism and meaning, which also seems to be a big thing in his former tribe, as they would braid their hair yo signify certain things. That's why he gets triggered by the while legs when they do it to honor him, not realising that the braids could have meant something horrible. So the fact the divide, the place he saw as a potential home destroyed drives him over the edge.

Why he wants to destroy the NCR though I don't know. I think it's because that's were the couriers from, since he mentions you doing work at the hub and shady sands and such. Though I think you can tell him to fuck off all the time and say it wasn't you, though I don't think he believes you.

Wasn't Avellone and another writer at key writer/executive producer at odds with one another? One wanted to eventually continues the series in the direction of civilization rebuilding itself because he was convinced that a setting that's a little bit more far along in the timeline where there's established cities and a strong military presence and the like would be interesting to explore. Still post apocalyptica but less "lmao everything is irridiated". And from what I remember the other saw that as the setting inevitably dooming itself. You have to keep things all wastelandish because that's the appeal of Fallout or whatever the fuck.
