Not really. Zenos may have been bored of life and only gets off on the glories of combat but it does add to the story on more levels than superficial. The emperor didn't even give a shit about him, declaring him unfit for command. He was intentially put in the position of viceroy despite it being known he would be incompetent. Many potential reasons for it. The empire doesn't want to deal with Doma or Ala Mhigo anymore perhaps? Are they looking for an excuse to enter a total war mode again? Did the emperor simply want to dispose of his son so that he could have a better heir? Why was the military presence in both of the so called occupied territories so weak and easily defeated by small insurgencies? Retaking yanxia and gyr abania was far, far too easy. That storm of blood they have been talking about, it hasn't actually hit yet.

Zenos was merely a pawn in a much larger game.

FFlogs updated, and now has the DPS listings of players calculated with and without Balance.
Just looking through the DPS numbers, excluding the ones that weren't exclusively given single target balances for bloated parses, it seems like the average gained DPS from a couple AOE balances in a fight is 500-600 added DPS. Even more if all their DPS is bringing high numbers, which they will be in Omega raiding. So that could easily work up to nearly 800.

800 added DPS...From one job. With it's only condition being a little RNG. Meanwhile WHM does 200 DPS more than AST sometimes.

Can we stop saying balance isn't hilariously overbuffed and that it doesn't matter? 800 DPS is the difference between wiping and clearing progression, or even skipping entire mechanics.
And this is not adding things like Chain, or Trick Attack.

The gap in power is ridiculous between AST and the other two, and now that we can actually see it, the issue is only going to get worse.

Susan ex just cements the fact that 90% of the player base are retards who got carried through one clear and think they're ready to farm. There is not a single difficult mechanic in the entire fight. Thunderbolts are especially infuriating because the only way to get hit by them is if you're literally not paying attention. If you get marked you have a good 5 or 6 seconds before the bolt goes off to get to the other side but you'll constantly see people just standing there not even attempting to move because they just gotta get their 1-2-3 out.

Lyse wasn't even the main character. She was that Ala Mhigan you brought with you, who you used as justification to further attack the Garleans. It can't be made more clear that the alliance of nations just wants the Empire gone. They even carefully tiptoe around it by sending the Scions to negotiate with the Ala Mhigan resistance so they don't look like invaders. Ala Mhigo was a proxy war. They used Lyse. She was a cheerleader. A figurehead to stick on the front and say forward charge.

Just look at what happened when Lakshmi and Susano showed up. Alphinaud immediately got a hard on because they were back to killing primals.

All you have to do is look at the statistics and use a percentile other than 99th. It gives a pretty clear list of where the classes stand in relation to each other, and even shit like >>382534595 is disingenuous because it's only counting Susano. The "tier list" on Lakshmi is actually quite different, with RDM and BLM beating out MNK.

In general there's about a 20% disparity between the top on the bottom, which isn't ideal but isn't the end of the fucking world either. It's also actually more like 12% if you cut out SAM.

The only real conclusions that can be drawn at this point are that SAM is probably a little overtuned, and DRG and MCH are a little undertuned. Everyone else is even enough for it to be irrelevant, and individual skill will be far more important for determing who beats who.

Not that any of this will deter obsessive parse autists from crying that the sky is falling.

DD giving a mirage dive would solve it pretty well. For that first burst you'd be able to get 4 Mirage dives by the 30 second or so mark and then go into nastrond. Keep the potency low and then that makes it actually fucking useful against trash mobs - because by the time you get nastrond ready the trash mob is dead and you have to hope the tank rushes ahead fast enough to make use of it. Even if you have a BOTD to pop beforehand you need around 7-8 seconds of it to pull the rotation through and rejuvenate it. Or don't give it mirage dive but give spineshatter 2 mirage dives. That way instead of 1:30 minutes you can get to Nastrond by 1 minute.

It sounds like SAM is the most complex DPS in the game.

BLM can be fun since there is some RNG involved with them and most endgame fights will challenge you with how well you can optimize your positioning. RDM is pretty boring for dps but you have the ability to save your group from a wipe at least.

Tanking is by far the most boring, even as PLD which is the least boring one now.

Personally I find healing the most fun because the difficulty varies on the competence of the people you are playing with instead of just the scripted fight itself. Particularly AST is cool because instead of just heals we also get useful buffs and we have like 6 abilities dedicated to just playing with cards, I'd say it's the job that utilizes its personal gimmick the best of them all.

Honestly I would just revert us back to the HW Geirskogul approach. Make the lvl 70 Geirskogul 2.0 and the lvl 60 something different. We're good on line-AOEs now, we're good on jumps, I think we should get another DOT back.

Personally I always like random or 'not chronological' proc abilities that diversify the rotation (think RDM's Verstone/Verfire or PLD's shield swipe). So for DRG the lvl 60 could be a new jump ability that is only available after you critical hit or has a % to proc when you complete a rotation.

This is a console game. It cannot into more than like 20~ moving objects on screen at once. It's really sad and painful how badly this game is held back by technical limitations.

Like when you're in a dungeon, you'll knock down a barrier or something only to see enemies spawn behind it in a purple puff of smoke, because it saves on server bandwidth to spawn enemies group-by-group instead of just doing the whole dungeon at once. WoL is a psuedo-primal powered entirely by the belief others have in him. The first encounter had you caught off guard while everyone was too distracted by the massacre to cheer you on, and the second encounter was some covert shit that everybody discouraged and nobody even knew you went. You won the third time around because everybody was rallied as fuck from overtaking Ala Mhigo and the belief juice hit "foregone conclusion" on the WoL meter.

Pretty much every character understands that it works this way too, because logistically it wouldn't make sense to send you in to fight Zenos after getting fucked up by him twice with zero backup and no strategy other than kill that nigger.
